WCC INTERVIEWS 2019
welcome to World cashew convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from
cashierinfo.com with me is Mr balasubramaniam RBS Maritime Services he
is the managing director welcome Mr Bala sir my first question is to Mr Bala sir is
there any Improvement in moisture content of imported asean from African countries over the years which country
has improved significantly and what others should do
last year there was some improvement in Universal is very susceptible to our
moisture because the cell thickness is very uh very thin the cell thickness is very
thin okay so it cannot stand like
but last year there was some improvement they dried the cargo 70 percent of the
curve they dried okay and only 30 percent was not properly right because those 30
percent was shipped in Blackboard okay the people who ship cargo and breaker things that the drying will the the in
the in the in the transit the uh equipment in the ship will take care of
that okay the drying system is very similar shipment that that that that
system will take care of the what’s the problem so they don’t try the cargo okay people who ship the cargo in containers
they’d ride it properly and Dalton was beautiful 54 plus it never we never got
51 Plus outen in uh but this year it is
so there I find uh Improvement and when I inquired with the people who are
operating in Greenville South they said uh they have increased the capacity okay
ground capacity infrastructure capacity somewhere around for four to five lakhmetics production is about two lakh
per ticket yes but the capacity storage capacity is increased okay and the drying yard also they put the space is
more space they I operate uh contain every storage
ground has drying drying out so these are the improvements in in if they have
observient okay but other places it is the area are still struggling with the uh with this problem the infrastructure
problem okay so based on your report you have mentioned that in Nigeria the
number of containers in 2017 there was only 10 percent moisture in Factor but
in 2018-19 I am taking from your report only the inspector the infected moisture
was almost 30 percent that means roughly one out of every three containers there is a moisture problem from Nigeria why
this is happening Nigerian nuts are slightly different from other African Rands Nigerian Nets
are you know at the time of harvesting it has very high moisture the nut is as
good as any other uh
so it needs immediate dry okay you made it like we do in India okay India within
seven days the car goes straight because within seven days it features the processor and the processors try the car
okay but in Nigeria they don’t think that they are
doing that they the farmers collect the cargo in plastic bags they get paid uh
keep it it is there in the plastic bag for some time okay and they they they
but and then it goes to the trader the trader tries to dry the cargo but he
don’t dry the car out completely they just just enough they do just enough drying
to you know to withstand their uh wise of coconut 30 to 40 days okay but in
case if the card container gets stuck somewhere then we have yes last year we have a problem Nigerian shipments are 60
70 days even some extent it was more than three months old yes I think that
could be the problem you always take into account that there are chances for
design shipment delayed shipment is and that this cargo should be dried for
that much duration yes yes summarize in brief on how to address the concerns of
RCN bias what are the problems faced by them how to address that
is so many problems but the price Market Trend everything they
can somehow they can predict okay they can take care of that aspect the only
thing that upsets them is their quality problem they he made a contact for 48
pounds 50 pound 50 52 pound but when he doesn’t get that 50 pounds 52 pounds his
calculation goes upside down okay he doesn’t he doesn’t uh he is not worried
about the even one pound slight variation there in the out and it is he
is not worried much
is very important because it is not only weight loss dry condition guarantees you
the color Okay dry condition guarantee you the uh
taste test order everything it’s a fancy cargo okay fancy Cargo in this cargo the
color is important is important water is important okay this if this is lost he
lost everything yes then it is he has to sell it in this market okay so one or two pound is here and
there a difference in the guaranteed outcome is not bothered much he is worried about the color and others these
things the color dry age color uh taste and smell everything it depends upon the
drainage of the okay so that should be properly taken care of by the product
okay how to resolve the moisture dispute is there any standard branded moisture
meter available to rely on that one there is one Mission uh from Vietnam
okay that machine based on that machine you cannot certify okay but you can use
it foreign
people this this Mission can be used but relaxation can be a guidance yeah it can
be a guidance limited we all know that 2018 was a tough year for though all
those involved in Cashiers uh do you feel the need for a change in payment Norms shipment terms like that to
minimize some of the losses are raising right out of default or Price variations
yes presently the contact is uh it is Goodwill based okay Goodwill
based contact is bound to make problem okay so
either you buy the cargo only from people who has a very good football in
the in the market okay ah if you want to you know widen your
source of uh source of purchasing okay then
the contact tree needs to be suitably modified now
uh it is there is no security sorry both shipper as well
okay so it must be properly modified in
order to secure the interest of the protect the interest of the shipper by as well as
okay so what about uh our world cashew conference what is your opinion on that
one yes this is a very good platform to express see there are a lot of people have grievances okay experiences
they they are all scattered all over the world okay so there is some platform you
must have some platform where people can meet and you know convey the agreement says now I have met uh so many people
uh they had some grievances okay uh or doubts or some problems with the RBS
certification now after coming here they said that this is the problem we are
facing okay we want some some solution for these problems okay okay so I like
likewise they have they have um uh problems with or they have some
suggestions to make to the shipper okay but to buy your buyer shipper and this
platform provides this opportunity for all the uh to know each other what is
happening every year it has to be connected together
news and you know see the progress okay okay you see the progress how to see the
industry going forward yes without any much trouble yes the trouble will always
be there with restoration so the progress
thank you
welcome to fifth edition of world cashew convention Abu Dhabi I am venkat from
cashierinfo.com with me is Mr Rajesh Tucker csks International Limited Ghana
welcome Mr attacker sir thank you Mr venkat yes sir good morning so how was the year 2008 we all know it was a turbo
interior in terms of cashew what are the lessons learned from that one and what
needs to be done going forward in 2019 uh 2018 was a very turbulent here as you
rightly said yes uh it was one of the most difficult ones I have seen in 15 years of my career in Cashew
well personally I would think that we could probably work towards getting speculation out of the system uh
how it typically happens is with speculation initially the season starts on a very
high note okay and the ground prices are raised to a level which is unrealistic
subsequently when sustainability seems to be difficult from the perspective of
processing costs and kernel prices available in the market finished product prices those prices have to correct
themselves in the bargain there are a lot of defaults a lot of things which go against the buyer and
seller which they shouldn’t so if we would try and avoid speculation it would
really help last year the season started at a note of about two thousand three hundred dollars plus okay but 10 and it
ended in the range of one thousand one hundred dollars is yes we could have a
supply demand fluctuation which is a normal fluctuation but these are
unrealistic fluctuations that we are looking at so these definitely need to be probably worked on jointly in a more
mature manner okay that’s what my opinion is okay see Gonna what is the Ghana cashew master program they have a
plan for 10 years how they are going to to increase the cashew cultivation area under cashew cultivation with hybrid
varieties how they are going to improve the yield Ghana government has taken up a cashew
cultivation and uh and more and motivating the farmers to a very great extent okay they have started
covering a lot of more land under cashew uh plants and they are promoting it in a
very big way they’ve realized a commercial value of it and they do look at it seriously currently probably Ghana
would be going in the range of 60 000 tons okay I’m sure by by the by the time
it’s 2020 Ghana would definitely cross hundred thousand tons the government is
working on a policy which should be out in February okay uh wherein it is uh in
indeed trying to create a three crop policy which covers crops like uh Chia
palm and uh cashew wherein they intend to come up with some kind of uh a
structure thing which is uh governed and guided by government policies it may
definitely have some kind of attacks in implied on it okay but it should be
marginal to start with okay see most of the Casio processing factories in Ghana
is almost closed over the years how the government is going to revise
that one are they going to announce any incentive for processing because you are
telling Ghana has come out with a 10-year development plans they are going to increase the RCN and moreover Ghana
is having a cross-border so their exports are almost more than doubled or
three times that what they are producing because of the crossbody trade but most of them get it exported as a c and raw
form but the factories under almost it’s redundant how they are going to reveal those
cashew factories is there any specific plan for that one uh we do have a challenge where you
mentioned about the processing factories please Ghana has approximately I think 12 factories of which we have one big
one which is ucbra it’s a Brazilian company and MIM cashew which is again a non-gunian company and if you have small
sized companies now uh sometimes the issues could not be only availability of
runners okay it could also be about uh effective management okay we have seen
these challenges even in non-cashew Industries where a lot of factories have
started but collapsed okay so that I feel is a parameter very strong
parameter which we need to consider okay as far as Government policies are concerned as I mentioned just few
minutes ago they do intend to come up with uh some policy a bill has been passed and they are working on it in
February we should hear I believe uh some policies from them having said that
yes uh probably some kind of a tax structure on exports would probably help
the production or the processing factories a little bit more so that uh
we are able to sustain and the challenges from the Traders so I’m sure Ghana government is doing
things about it and they’ll come up with some good ideas okay okay so what about your views on wealth cash
you can mention that we are organizing I feel you all are doing a wonderful job I mean this is the fifth one in a row I
see a lot of effort being put in by your team uh as far as a selection of venues is concerned as far as selection of a
keynote speakers panels uh and uh I mean you’re probably up to the mark so
at my level I don’t offer any suggestions for improvement you all are doing very good and continue the good
work yes a lot of unforeseen happened like
renegotiation of contracts and then defaults how to reserve this kind of
things maybe contract differs from buyer service fluctuation in prices
how we are going to address this kind of things if we could have some intervening bodies
like um maybe sepsi or some cashew board at the side of the buyers and we could
have some kind of Regulation at the selling point also uh primarily depends
on the buyer seller relationship that’s that’s that’s primary having said that
we would like uh cashew industry to get be a little more mature uh we uh do see
in other crops other Commodities like cocoa and some other Commodities yes yes
these problems are little less uh so we should all try to probably join uh
jointly work towards it in a more mature fashion rather than think about our immediate short-term gains okay for a
seller in case the prices go up I believe he must put up with his uh integrity and finish supplying the order
he has taken okay for the buyer if he has assigned some contract I believe they should honor it irrespective of the
market went down 100 or 200 and give sleepless nights to the seller when we
see this mutually yes with a lot of more maturity rather
than short-term gains because we are all here even after you decide
unless you want to be a Fly by Night operator do it one time and just wamush
but that doesn’t work that way yes so let us live with credibility and uh even
if it means not much in the short term okay okay that’s what I would suggestion
thank you so much for sharing the reviews thank you thank you
welcome to 50 edition of world cashew convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am
venkat from cashier info.com with me is Mr Rajiv founder of rats and experts
India brief about your company okay ratson exposure started in 1992
primarily as a cashew processing and exporting company but around 2004 we
changed our our Focus look we are now more into broking of raw cashew okay
from Africa into India and to Vietnam so you are into various origins of
Aussie and trade what is the buyer’s preference or view about the quality of nuts in terms of moisture content and
then net count and yield from various Origins generally uh I think it is a known fact
that moisture content is a major issue affecting quality of raw cashew okay so
ideally I would I think the moisture content should be close to eight personal relationship from the from the
origin okay regarding the preference of Origins there is always a balance
between the quality and the price okay there are some buyers who prefer a good
quality and are willing to pay a higher pressure look there are some buyers who prefer a lower quality at a lower price
okay so that is the individual thing and our role as Brokers is to match the original expectations of the buyers with
the with the origin so from which country do you suppose most of the asean
and why uh we actually Source from almost every uh cashew growing country in Africa but
I would say uh probably the number one would be the guinea bissau Gambia
Senegal that region uh I think the reason is because I started uh doing
broking business from them we have some very good friends who have supplies
supported me in this business okay so I’m very comfortable doing business with them so I think that’s the reason yeah
let’s see so do we feel the need for Global cashew Forum kind of a thing
considering what happened in 2008 yes everyone has suffered in one way or other way be it asean Trader or a
processor or an intermediate there is a lot of the big words because of price
fluctuations red negotiation of contracts so do you see any global forum
kind of a thing is there any need for that one I think it is a good idea okay but I
think there are a lot of challenges in making it work because firstly everybody in the industry has to
agree to to how it is to the mechanism and also to the people who are going to do it
okay so it is definitely a good thing if it happens but I’m not very confident that it will work maybe it may take some
time it may take some time when that happens yeah it might need some change in people’s attitudes also okay okay so
hopefully it will happen otherwise you can have some kind of change in family mechanism shipment times so some people
have talked about that the contractual Norms so that at least few of the things
can be that’s not all of your things is that way it is possible some people were suggesting that both the buyer and
seller keep an amount in an escrow account yes and after the contract is performed it can be uh
through the bank through the bank that I suppose it is a good idea but I think uh
ultimately the buyer and seller have to be careful about who they are dealing with okay make sure that these kind of
issues okay don’t come and also uh the kind of exposure you’re taking to a single buyer or a single seller should
depend on how comfortable you are with them how good their financial uh first they should know about the person whom
you are dealing with exactly without knowing the background you should not you should not advance myself
I think that will solve a lot of the problems okay
any suggestions on any other things any other suggestions no but I’d just like
to say that especially after the last two years the problems the industry has been having it’s very good that cashier
info has brought about this kind of meeting of all the stakeholders and the cash although it’s called the world
casual convention I think it is the focus is on raw cashew and uh there is there’s been no other body which has
done this okay so I think you’re doing a very good job but I’d like to congratulate uh you and Mr srivastav in
the organization for doing it and let us hope it continues uh and we find a solution to the many problems
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention Abu Dhabi I am venkat
from cashier info.com which means Mr sadananda Nair Wing Corporation dmcc
thank you Mr nice thank you very much yes thanks for talking to me
so what is how is the crops whether in Benin and what is the estimated crop
size the crop in Benin is coming out as normal okay we are expecting around 125
000 Plus up to 150 000 maybe a bit early to say exactly but the normal crop without any
infestation or any effect of the armatan okay everything is coming out normally
okay on time last year as Benin has introduced export tax how this is going
to play a role whether there could be any change in the export of Benin and
Export drugs was introduced by Benin to protect the local industry okay it was a
welcome step for the processors because processors in Benin face a problem of
competing with the high value market like Bangalore in India okay and
competing with them and buying and at the same time when they go to sell the kernel they have to compete with Vietnam
and sell at the lower price okay so that does not become a business-wise a feasible solution so export tax didn’t
help to some extent yeah the procedures but the processors
still feel that enough is not done okay a hundred dollar export tax is not going to create a Major Impact okay okay so
you have started your fluid plant in 2016. are you able to get enough wrong
materials to process cashews considering intense computation in winning yeah
considering our long standing there we have been in the country for more than 20 years okay we are able to get the raw
material okay the problem that we face is we have to buy all the raw material
at the same time okay that is we have to stock up material for 12 months means
very high interest cost okay and we have to buy it very early okay okay very
early in the season okay so what happens is we have we end up buying at a very
high price we do get all the quantities that we need okay in what way cashew
sector can learn from other Agri sector considering what happened in 2018 in
2018 whether it is a processor a Trader everyone suffered one
sector
have got bodies which control which supports uh the both the farmers the
Traders and the processors okay but we don’t have any such body which regulates
the cashew sector we can badly in need for that what happened in 2018 just
ending example where contracts got defaulted shipments got delayed quality
has got deteriorated and in every way the processor Trader everybody got a very badly affected okay
now what happens is in one year the farmer is making money all the money in
the other year the kernel buyer is making all the money third year the processor possibly will make but this
this is not how the business should be okay every player in in the value chain
should be making some money or the other otherwise the business cannot survive yes yes so for that uh to have a a body
or an organization which controls the cashew sector is becoming of a very high
requirement and very very important so we are all working towards it how to get
it okay the cashew consultation comprised of almost nine or ten African
countries is there any case for restoration of taxes or free
intra-africa trade whether any kind of things can be considered that way because you are having plans in two
three countries two three African countries between those countries whether they are allowing free trade
correct are they considering that one or taking any steps on this one because uniform taxation for your processing
because Africa wants to process most of the things as far as they can maybe they
are gradually doing is there any scope for rational registration of Texas across Africa and intra-free Africa
trade for the existing processes very good question actually Africa
yes as you said that cashew processing is increasing in Africa and foreign
does not happen because of various factors okay now if that happens free
movement then we don’t have to you know buy and keep the stock in you know like in Benin we buy our entire stock in the
matter of less than a month we don’t need to do that if a free movement is allowed this free movement
happens and taxations are common amongst all common tax
resumed it will be very very helpful okay okay so your reviews on wscc you
are attending from the beginning yeah so any Improvement that needs to be done or what needs to be done for the WCC is
getting better and better okay it is very nice this year we see a little dampling of new spirit because of what
happened last year yes but still you people have done a great job in going ahead and you know proposing to have
this uh thing at least people have met yes people have discussed people have understood yes and it should go a long
way and WCC is leading in the campaign to take cashew forward okay hopefully
2019 should be much better than what we have witnessed yeah hopefully everyone should have some
kind of not even even not making money we are not losing money yeah
thank you so much thank you very much
welcome to the fifth edition of build cashew convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from cashier info.com
with me is Mr Sashi shekhar krishnamurti and suchitra bus
brief about your nanosot shell separator okay this is the new product that we
have made for the cash industry the current bottleneck in cutting which can’t be fully automated and run 24 bar
7 is the cutting section because there is a manual intervention in screening
the to be scooped and the shells with the split stuck in it and all that so we
have made a product that can actually inspect every shell and then can at a
efficiency of about 95 percent remove all the shells with valuable metal in it it can be even broken through plates or
it can actually be even holes or split separately so that way we actually can
automate The Cutting section more or less fully without human intervention and that is giving the benefit for the
customer to use the cutting machines for more than the operational levels and can
quickly do the separation without too much of waiting or manual interactions so what are the current challenges in
grading the current scenario the number of grades that used to be in the industry yes itself you know strong
heavily I remember in the Mangalore area they used to make more than 100 grades in the holes now they’ve already
minimized it to not more than 40 grades so that being the case the situation is
now making grades in an acceptable Norm for the customer so then also understand Paradise farm that everybody is able to
more or less produce similar grades so in that front what we have actually done
is come up with a very Innovative solution where the configuration and the configurability can be at the uh you
know at the user level two mobile phones we have apps that talk to our machines and then this app can
actually detect the terms or actually even get the Norms of how the grading
can be okay so this actually helps in two forms one is I can do processing
still in parts and Parcels in various factories and then still will be confident to mix each grades and then
will not have any rejections so the Norms of standardization in grading has
been the challenge and nanopix is actually providing an app based solution to this which you can integrate the
machine with the cloud and get even grading across multiple factories that’s the biggest uh challenge the industry is
facing today and that’s the solution we are offering as well explain how AI can help in Casio processing
right so uh AI is helping in casual processing significantly in grading if
you really see the entire processes yeah it driven for Nanos order based operation especially with our new mayur
the Technologies uh very Superior in terms of identification all the cash upgrades that exist in the market today
Beyond this we also have actually included AI into detection of the TBS in
the Shell without it’s not just a color sorting technology it is more about defining what the product is and then
self-learning over time what we see is this is going to be the trend everywhere wherever there is human intelligence and intervention required
to produce maximum efficiency that is the area where a is going to help and we
believe from nano fish will be providing continuous improvements and Solutions in that space
my next question to madam what is the role of women in Cashew business
what needs to be done to promote more women in the cashew business so far a
woman have been only in the processing especially in uh or the cutting and the grading session
now I think the women should equip themselves technically and get into more
decision making and be influencers and the cash industry for that woman has to
get knowledge and I think casual impose doing a great job with classroom and given that imparting that knowledge
associating themselves with many associations whose empowering women so main thing is giving them the knowledge
that is needed to make or be the decision makers in the cashew industry so that is where I think okay thanks for
sharing all your knowledge with us thanks a lot
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from cashierinfo.com
with me is Mr Satish from Regal Farm industries Tamil Nadu
welcome Mr Satish yeah good evening sir how are you brief about your company Regal Farm industries we have a company
called Regal Farm industries in bandruti Tamil Nadu we process cashew nuts in
Tamil Nadu and we do domestic uh we Supply to domestic uh bias in in within
India as well as we do Imports of raw cashners from West Africa and East
Africa uh and uh and in some some season from Indonesia so this is a overall uh
our current scope of work from West Africa which are the countries you saw
us so we we generally buy some Ivory Coast
predominantly but sometimes we buy from Ghana as well as from Nigeria okay
so mention your domestic markets from which you are kernels or marketer see generally our
kernel Market is more in the northern part I can say Gujarat and uh Delhi
Market and sometimes we sell in our local market in in Chennai also so uh
Colonel as well as we do some uh special Masala cashews of Masala cashews in our
place and and supply to the local market in Chennai mention your brand Regal we
we sell in a brand called Regal cashews okay uh in the in that brand but uh but
as such we Supply to a major MNC so we sell it as a as a as a whole part to
them come and see in the sense food industry in the food industry and food
industry I can say sweet making Industries in this Industries okay
and what is your current processing capacity uh we do approximately 60 bucks
uh per day capacity we have and we are in the process of enhancing depth to 60
to 200 backs per pack per capacity capacity yes that’s our plan okay how do you
manage the enforce even seen in 2018 we have not seen those kind of events uh
everywhere everyone is losing some kind of homemade or other way be it a Trader processor how you manage that one and
what are the lessons going forward in 2019 see see as such if you take uh cashew
Industries or any agriculture commodity industry this risk factor is always always there yes so uh it’s so see let’s
let’s take last I can say last four five years there is always there is a close and we are expecting anytime there is
going to be a fault and it and it fell last year yes so we are expecting probably this year and next year it will
stabilize okay so that uh we will do uh we will be uh if it’s there is I can say
a normal uh not hype or a down Market it’s always better for us so normally
when the market is stable or not within a range then it is good for good for all I can say it’s good for the processors
it’s good for the Traders and it will be good for the consumption also because people will buy more exactly the price
is stable or price is within a certain range exactly it’s it’s like a minimum situation for everybody okay vote for
the processes as well as for the the Traders as well as for the consumers it’s it’s it’s good for everybody I can
see okay you are into gifted segment or during some gifting of nights
we don’t do directly we don’t Supply directly to the retailers okay but what
we are doing is we will survey to the wholesalers they’ll in turn do the food food
products and not sell it to their retail yes okay and what about your views on WCC it’s
really fantastic I can say last four years I’m continuously attending this this is my fourth year okay and uh I get
a lot of contacts I can see I can say once in a year only I’ll meet people my parents very rarely we meet one or two
people here and there in India look at this in one single location I can meet everybody we can discuss the various I
can see the future of cashew Industries okay every every I can say uh different uh people will be meeting I can say
different stakeholders okay starting from the farmers suffering from the traders to the processors the kernel
buyers to everybody so this is a excellent uh I can say it’s really good
for us basically I encourage more people to attend this yes thank you so much
thank you thank you
welcome to the fifth edition of weld Casio convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from cashainfo.com
with me is Mr somnath Chatterjee ITC efforts India
sir good morning what a lovely day here in Abu Dhabi
and it’s even more interesting because it’s on the eve of our Republic Day yes
so it’s great to talk about India and Indian demand yeah cashew nuts on such an auspicious day yes India is
undoubtedly the number one in the world as far as cashew food ingredients are concerned let me start
with the first question mention the growth of cashew as food ingredients in India and future prospects
so uh you know it’s very interesting that the packaged food segment uh is
growing at a cagr of between 12.5 and 14 and this is as per the latest AC Nielsen
data okay and uh what is even more interesting is that slowly the Indian
consumer is appreciating that cashew and indeed other dry fruits such as almonds are not
only tasty but there is a healthy as well okay and there is a great traction for these kind of dry fruits in our
products for instance in our mom’s magic cookies which are about it’s a brand
which is about three years old our hit SKU is the cashew butter and just doing
really very well we also feel that the kind of demand which is there from the
ice cream industry okay that is also a very strong demand
my um own estimate and this is not corroborated by any uh AC nails and data
but my own estimate is that we should be as a country consuming anywhere between 3500 to 4000 tons of uh various bit
sizes uh for uh bulk use in products such as cookies and ice creams okay in
fact in one of our latest launches of ITC Foods we call it sun Feast wonders
milk it’s only been launched in Chennai and Bangalore so far there is a fruit
and nut variant okay which is uh which has got a high percentage of cashews in
it okay so we are experimenting in various formats along with wonders milk last month we also
launched our fmcg chocolate range it’s our Fabel
and one of the hit products in that Fabel
range of chocolates is again fruit and nut okay okay so that’s also doing very well in fact Fabel has been launched
only in Bangalore City and so far it’s got excellent uh consumer ratings we are
hopeful that in the next one year we will be able to roll it out in most of the modern rate in India most of the big
cities okay okay so as you can see ITC as a company is considers cashew an
important raw material and we are trying to use uh cashew in various formats in
various categories it’s important enough for us to attend uh this conference as well which is
which I must say I must uh compliment casual info that they pulled up yet
another excellent conference very well participated the quality of delegates the quality of speakers uh and the and
the overall uh knowledge decimation that we are getting over here is quite outstanding so compliments to cash you
in programs yes thank you so much sir ITC is doing a lot of Innovations now my next question is
getting popular everywhere is the same can be popularized for cashew milk also
what is the scope of popularizing cashew milk in India Ah that’s a very
interesting topic in that I was just discussing this with one of the delegates yesterday okay um
what has happened to almonds in India is that because of the unstinting efforts of the Californian almond board which
has been very active in India it’s just been actually promoting almonds as a very healthy food yes a food which all
the mothers should give to their daughters and sons for cognitive purposes for brain development Etc so
that seems to have worked very well yes and in fact there is a big consumer perception that almonds are a very
healthy nut now cashew in a lot of consumers Minds even
today resides in the indulgent space okay it
hasn’t really gotten done as a healthy alternative okay in fact as you would well know the latest research shows that
the fat in cashew nuts is very high in high Omega yes three Rich good
cholesterol absolutely it’s great so you know so somehow uh the powers that we
who control the cashew industry in India have not been able to really I think it
has not fully raised the masses about different benefits of cashews precisely and there is no board in India like
promoting cashews kind of a thing there is a export promotion consider is there but there is no almond board kind of a
thing exclusive for promotion of cashews that is not there do you feel there should be a board to promote I very
strongly recommend that because India is not only a very large consumer of cashew but we are a producer of cashew and
often our Farmers uh are left to the vagaries of international markets yes so
they are actually today at the mercy of what happens in Tanzania yes
I believe that India should really have a very strong cashew promotion Council
so that we are able to have a captive demand in our country there is a demand latent demand in our own country so that
at least our own cashews yes uh have a good demand and get sold without having to really
um get swayed by the market volatility okay okay yeah so I think it’s it’s very important that the council is formed uh
and uh the consumer is educated about the health benefits of cashew nuts rules
so how much of cashiers are currently being consumed by biscuits and cookies segment in India which is growing at a
series of more than 10 percent in the last few years so as I mentioned it’s actually a little better than 10 percent
it’s actually 12 and a half to 14 okay and uh I also mentioned that in my
estimate it’s about 3500 to 4000 tons okay okay is what is the current uh
industry use industry in terms of bits Also let’s not forget there is this huge
segment of always yes which is into the uh sweet mix which is the kaju katli yes
and also uh for instance in our uh ready to eat preparations which is called
kitchens of India which we export okay quite a lot a lot of our gravies actually have uh cashew powder as as uh
as a key ingredient that adds to The Taste and the creaminess and the texture so
um yeah I think that is a growing space and you can easily consider 14 so yes
you have growth going forward so name the various grades of cashew which is being used by the biscuit
industry in India yeah mostly eight pieces and lower okay yes yeah but there
was a time I remember about 10 years back or 15 years back when uh the pieces
uh the small pieces had no takers yes right and it was a byproduct of the processing industry yes uh people were
scared to automate because the processing losses would be higher and
more reasons and they did not have a buyer for those pieces yes therefore people did not invest and they relied
more on manual processing so that the breakage was less today I think it’s the reverse even if breakage is more also it
is useful in some other Industries and you’re getting very good prices yes good prices in fact there were times I
remember a couple of years back when Britannia and I we had to actually request our processors to cut splits yes
into it into pieces so you know and I think the role is reversed now so there’s a great market
for uh for bits for All Kinds of Kinds of cashews so there is no problem so narrate the growth of e-commerce
Platforms in India what percentage of business transacted through these forums why peoples and consumers are attracted
towards this so I think e-commerce is
the next big thing which is going to happen we’ve already heard statements like data is the new oil yes and data is
going to drive e-commerce going forward so I put to you that say about five
years back nothing you had to be a big company like ITC to be able to design a product package it
and then reach out to the consumers in our country which is almost as big as Europe yes right
but today because of you e-commerce somebody sitting in column in South India can you cannot get a product he
can spice it he can blend it it’ll make it interesting he can put a little help story around it a story attractive
package absolutely and he can reach out to millions of consumers who are out there and someone sitting in Ludhiana
can order a cashew nuts from column Yes Yes means they can order it so that to my
mind is the power of e-commerce and that to my mind is what is really going to
lead to a explosion of small businesses okay and I think this is a very very uh welcome thing which has happened in our
industry okay what are the needs and expectations of
food industry from cashew sector what we would like is a steady source of Supply
okay we would like there should be no great price volatility like yeah like
what we have absolutely witnessed in 2018 such such price volatility can be
very disruptive yes there ultimately are in the in fmcg fast moving consumer good
space it’s all about volumes we work on very thin margins so volatility can be very dangerous for our business and of
course we would like quality yes because it is as well as price stability so reasonable price fluctuation is the need
of the hour biggest problem that we face in supplies is uh foreign matter contamination okay
and infestation but over the years I’m happy to say that a lot of the Indian processors have now realized that and
they’ve worked with us to improve uh those issues they will introduced color
sorters and uh they’ve introduced nitrogen flushing yes or vacuum packing
so I think the incidence of uh foreign matter and infestation is coming down
okay but I think it’s still not world class but still we need to work on that one they are already working on that one
hopefully you see the light at the end of the tenor absolutely okay thank you
so much
thank you very much thank you brief about your company abstract is a Swedish company
and it’s about 25 years old we were the first to invent basically the desiccant
use in containers and we were the first to use this
technology in containers for all products and cashews also
and we as we were the first in the market Swedish company a lot of
companies has copied our products unfortunately
we are in about 50 countries ago around the globe and uh we have sales offices
in about 10 places he lost our moisture can be controlled
during Transit well yes during Transit which is the most challenging condition for the
cashew nuts which are actually trapped inside the container then you track the the weather that you ship from and also
you are an influence of the the climate during the shipment uh the first thing
to do is and it’s key that’s the preparation of the cashew nut of course with the proper drying traditional
methods that’s very Paramount and the cashew nuts needs to be homogeneously dried that’s very important
thing is the preparation of the container because this is going to be the protection of the cashina during the
shipments so you need to dress the cardboard accordingly to the best
practices and to use quality decision to absorb moisture during the entire trip so sometimes you
can use some desiccants which are going to absorb moisture only during the first weeks and then they will be saturated so
you end up with no protection during the second part of the trip and then you need to use the right
dimensioning of the sequence this is Paramount because we work a lot in the cocoa industry where we have similar
degrees of of moisture levels and the same
countries of Origins over there in in the cocoa industry we we need to protect
the containers with 40 liters absorption capacity when you ship to Europe and then we when you ship to Asia which is
mostly the case for cashews you need to absorb up to 60 liters of moisture to
ensure that your beans arrive safe in in good quality
conditions and arrival so dimensioning of the desiccant which is the absorption
capacity is there any proven technology which you have developed other than this
uh we as I said we have been in the first to use calcium chloride in the
market and calcium karate is still uh the most used because it’s uh better to
use that than clay or silica gel because it’s about eight to ten times more
efficient to use that but we are also developing a lot of new technologies and
we are looking into things like uh ventilation what are your views
yeah it’s our first time to be on this convention and it looks very promising
and interesting yeah so uh yeah uh will I being here because actually it’s one
chance to meet both the exporters the importance of cashew the Traders and
all the stakeholders like Shipping Lines also or maybe surveillance companies so
it’s ready our chance to talk to the entire industry in one spot thank you very much thank you very much
hello I’m here with Mr Andrew kulibali from the government of IBC hi Mr kuti
Bali yeah please uh so we heard about this cashew value chain promotion
competitiveness set up by the government of IVC can you tell us more about it yeah so thank you for thank you very
much for having me today so Umali advisor to the prime minister of
Cote d’Ivoire in charge of industry and private Investments
so the the cashew value chain compared in the project is a project financed by
the World Bank with a total cost of 200 million dollars
the project has basically three components one component is the
strengthening and the governance of the institution in charge of cashew net yeah
and Cote d’Ivoire another area is the increase of the
productivity and markets access for all cashew nuts and finally we will be
trying through a third area to promote the private investment in the cash
reprocessing sector so regarding the first area that is the uh you know the
strengthening of the uh you know the institution dealing with the cashier that would try to reinforce the capacity
of the cotton and Casual boards as well as increasing the capacity
and the governance of all the cooperatives or the institutions that
will be trying you know to frame uh the activity of different players in the
casual casual sector yeah so regarding the second area which is to increase the
productivity and the market access for all customers so it will be developing
National research and seedling development for cashew nuts as well as
we’ll be trying to also make roads you know feed the roads because we want to
reduce the post-harvest losses uh so and also we’ll be dealing with you
know technology transfer you know from other areas for other countries
uh to to Cote d’Ivoire so regarding the the third the third
area which is the uh the uh the promotion of private investment uh in
the cashew sector so we have basically two sub-sectors so one is to promote the
development of three platforms three dedicated casual processing platforms uh
one in corogo this is in the north one in boake this is in the center of Cote
d’Ivoire yeah one in segela this is um yeah it’s also Sun level on Stately on
the west and one in bonduku this is on the East so the idea would be to create that
platform to increase the uh you know the cashew processing capacity of Cote
d’Ivoire uh another sub sector uh within the uh the third area of the project would be
to you know to increase the investment of the public sector so that means we
would be giving subsidies to private investors for either the Improvement of
the technology yes that is for uh current uh processing units if they have
some project to improve their you know they the productive tools yes production
tools so we’ll be investing money in that we’ll be also investing money to create warehouses because you know that
sometimes the conditions to you know to to yeah for stocking things cashew nuts
especially is problematic so we’ll be trying to create
at least 15 big warehouses uh also we’ll
be putting money to rehabilitate the current you know warehouses so that will
be small warehouses and we’ll be trying to promote something like 400 yeah uh
warehouses also will be putting money for people who have project to you know
to you know to soften the uh the labor conditions so that will be investment in
small tools for women for also uh young people okay so basically these are the
main areas of the cashew promotion uh
project in Cote d’Ivoire and overall we would like to really thank the World
Bank and all our partners in this project so my next question is about the
access to finance in IVC for processors can you tell us about it yeah
So yeah thank you very much that’s a big a big question because financing has
been difficult not only for ivorian processors but for
other processors in other countries but in every course basically I would say
that the main issues with financing is the financing of the the raw cashew nuts
for processors because you know that cashew processing is a very new Venture
in Cote d’Ivoire so Banks were used to finance uh the trading of cashew that
not the uh the processing process but things are improving you know the slow
the pace is slow but it’s you know it’s
it’s growing over time yeah if if we look at the the processing on
Cote d’Ivoire a year ago we processed something like 45 000 tons
uh but this year we are about something about 65. so it means that the uh the
strings are being you know understood banks are playing their parts okay but
still we have much to do uh regarding the uh the financing access I mean the
fact the access to finance uh be it for raw cashew nut buying as well as for the
the financing of the you know the operating costs of the uh of the of the
processing units but in last year for example we put in place a lot of schemes
uh to you know to to make Banks more comfortable with the uh the you know the
financing of local processors so one area of policy was to develop a kind of you know
Bank guarantee whereby the cashew and cotton board would be uh you know giving
a 25 cash guarantee to any bank that would Finance local processors right uh
so the other areas of you know there are other policies I think one of my colleagues will be talking about the
other you know specific policies beyond the you know beyond the banking sector
but that policy is actually would contribute to give more confidence and
more Comfort uh to Banks so what I would say on that finally is that uh
I think banks would be requiring comforts so this is the the place to
call on our processors you know so that they can improve the uh you know the the
credit documents and and improve the the corner party risk for the banks and I
think we from our discussions with the local processors with the banks in Cote
d’Ivoire we are on a good trend of common understanding so now I think things will take a little bit time but
we are definitely on the Blue Train okay great then we wish you good luck for that thank you very much thank you so
much
welcome to fifth edition of world cashew conventional exhibition Abu Dhabi
growing regions of Nigeria and when the new season is expected to come once what
is the expected crop size in 2019 well thank you very much the weather has been
quite favorable uh okay the various growing areas and we expect to have a good um Good Harvest okay and
good figures this year last year we were on about 225
000 okay and hopefully uh we are in any unforeseen circumstances
uh we trust that with all our efforts in
the area of preventing losses and wasting things in
our crop uh with a better education of a
Farmers okay in the you know in how they’re kicking
generally you see that um us Harvest handling processes have been much better
okay and then of course with many of our new plantations coming to the gas
station period where the a lot of them have been gone to to food I think this
year we should hit the level of 250 000 uh tons okay yes conveniently so
what is the reason behind Nigeria discouraging foreigners at Bush what is
the reason behind that but you are not allowing foreigners to buy directly at the bush yeah any reasons behind that
one well uh like you know every trade has its own um you know
Logistics Arrangement okay uh every trade has its own structure every trade
has its own framework okay we are not advised to uh having a having foreigners
or foreign Nationals coming to trading our country but indeed we uh just like
you had the director of Nigeria Corporation Council uh when he said the other time that we give visas easily and
we make um business easy for our foreign
that when you talk about Commodities okay you’re talking about a value chain
okay which means that every uh segments uh or every uh everyone
actor in The Chain should have their own respective rules
and places okay you know so you talk about the farmer you talk about the the small buyer the bigger the bigger a
buyer the merchant you talk about the exporter you talk about the processor
everybody has his own his own rule okay okay so what we find is that
when the foreigners go into the bush uh
of you know what you find is that there’s a lot of uh heating up in the
market well as you know there’s a lot of eating up in the market also you you know that the value chain is disrupted
okay everybody if the Foreigner comes with an expert that goes into the farm what what is the job
that will be remaining for our people to do you know so we need these small ones you
know to to be able to earn a living we need employment for our people you know
so when they boycott the whole chain and they go into the bush it’s problematic it’s not helping our economy so what
we’ve said is that let them stay in the positives when I’m staying the prosecutor then I’m
staying legal there anything the goods will come to them okay which will come to them but when
they go to the bush you know they don’t allow the farmers to do what they’re supposed to do it affects our quality
you know so we find some of them just taking the goods from the farmer without it properly dry and then price
distortions you know uh so these are the things that we feel they should be they shouldn’t go
to the to the bush and the thank God that our government also are very supportive because they we also need to
create jobs for for our people and while the foreigners will do the aspect that
they are most proficient to do and that’s the export inside and I think
that’s the whole thing behind uh preventing uh encroachment of foreign
nationality over the years improved significantly I think in the
last two years two seasons it was around more than 49k over but the thing is when
compared according to Indian agency who are doing the survey
they are doing they are having a seized some kind of say in 2017-18 out of some
thousand I think 2017-18 there are about
1299 shipments from Nigeria in that the moisture infected one is 132 shipments
only that is about 10 percent of the total shipments but in 2018-19 season
that one has improved substantially there is lot of moisture content See out
of 2004 94 shipments containers 743 is having more moisture content
infected with more moisture that means in terms of percentage it is closer to 30 percent
in 2017-18 number of infected container was only 10 percent but in 1819 it has
increased to 30 percent what is the abnormal increase one side quality is average quality K
Over is good it’s around 49 you have improved vastly from 46 47 to 49 that is
a commandable thing but on the other hand when there is some income improvement taking place in the moisture
related thing last year it was one of the bad years what is the reason behind that one it’s according to the Indian
shipper one shipment agency I’m not talking about the whole of the shipment well I will say that I’m not aware of
the statistics I must tell you that and I’m saying this with our sense of
uh seriousness okay I’m not aware of the statistics
didn’t get to me okay what we what we what I’m aware is that over the years
uh there have been a lot of sensitization of our Farmers okay to improve on that drive okay in fact for
me if the moisture problem is resolved or solved in Cashew you’ve sold about 95 of
the quality problem because no matter how good or beautiful your current outcome result is if it’s not the
cashews are well dry it means that automatically uh there will be uh with
the humidity it will bring about the degeneration and the quality so we have
worked as you directly over the years to see that the quality improves but
Apple said that last year was a bit um unique in terms of the uh the
vulnerability okay and the fluctuation on the market as you’re aware that we had some major
um drop yes in the market so maybe a few uh expert ads were too much
in a hurry in order to beat their shipment uh time and to beat the
volatility yes and to be the volatility maybe somewhere too much in a hurry okay
and that’s the only explanation I can I can give but I will tell you that from the report I I still got generally yes
yes there has been Improvement in the in the Nigerian country culture quality and
in fact in the area of motion even as compared to many other countries okay and one more aspect is the shipment
there is a lot of shipment is it the average shipment period to Asian countries around 65 to 70 days
so how are you going to address that one see normally the shipment has to be done in 40 45 days means it will be good you
can retain the quality you can retain the moisture but there is abnormal delay of 65 days 70 days
on an average it has happened from Nigeria last year what we have observed so how are you going to the result this
bottlenecks like improvementary in roads entry points at the ports there is a lot
of waiting time even saw some shipment they have waited for entering the port it’s a four to five days how are you
going to address those challenges yes uh thank you very much well there are two sides to there are two issues that you
have to okay um join attention to I think the first one that we mentioned in terms of a
traffic time yes that is between when the container leaves are port and when it gets to the destination what we have
done as an association is um to engage the shipping companies
okay uh you know yearly before the season and I think we’ve we’ve been
doing that in the past four years educating the shipping companies on the importance of having a short
Transit time okay considering the unique uh nature and the perishability of
cashew crop okay so that they understand that like any other crop we can stay in the container for for you know for any
endlessly and so they’ve been able to take you out of that and you know within those years we have seen shipment
um uh reduced the traffic time reduced okay uh for some we’ve had we have some
shipments are taking about 30 days and 30 or 30 35 days okay and we find some
of these shipping companies competing among themselves to deliver uh a prom uh
delivery at the at a destination but of course uh maybe there are a few
um uh mis-normal uh you know that you’re talking about but the other aspect which
you talked on is a delay between uh you know when the loading is done from the
warehouses and when they get to the port which is the major challenge that we have at the moment but a lot of new
initiatives have been done okay uh while
um the route to the port which which is the major constraint the road to report is being repaired and being made
um right okay for for good um vehicular passage but in the meantime government
is working on some areas okay to see that why we’re doing that for instance
um on Monday one of our parts in ikorodu you know aside from the tin can and um uh Papa
Paul they are within that axis where they wrote it this Bible we have the corrupt which is going to be uh be open
for real commercial uh utilization as a stop Gap and I am and I’m and I think
that Monday will be the honorable minister of Agriculture Chief how do we will be launching that uh that
particular uh project to see that ikorodu which is another part gives a
support to the other to the other part while the the road construction and the
road repairs is being done from from uh from the apapa road so we see that this year
you know with all of this initiative we will have improvements in the in the in
the time between which the Bulls and uh the country is loaded and when they get
so the government is working trying to collaborate with the with the private sector you don’t think
that things move move forward how much of our asean still left over in
Nigeria that is 2008 season all the rcnr exporters are processors are still
something is left you know we are fortunate because Nigeria started receiving in West Africa
okay so uh quite a lot have been shipped yes you know a few Pockets you know are
still available but um they are not uh the volume is not a
big concern you know as compared to what you find probably in some other countries okay
okay thank you so much sir thank you for having me and um of course I would like to say a big thank you to the president
yes uh Mr strip that server and his team I mean you guys are doing a great job
fantastic job uh bringing the whole world of cashew together you know and at
least once in a year like this we were able to see what we’ve done in the past and then look into the into the new year
strategy guys and family policies uh ideas on how the the new season will go
and then of course I I think it’s it’s a it’s a commendable thing and it keeps getting better every year so I must
commented uh you know casual info for this wonderful job and great support
that just giving to the cashew thank you thank you very much thank you so much
thank you chunking Associates is a we have started
before 31st 31 years yeah
yeah then we have started to Source the raw materials of further Indian cashew industry yeah
we have started first bringing the cashew nut from Vietnam
Cambodia and Tanzania as Indonesia
and Burma okay those areas they were exporting cashew nuts because
that time there were there were no processing in those areas
we used to buy from there and bring to India and Supply to Indian people for
that we will be sourcing the material and supplying to India okay this is a
the cashew nut is a major quantities we worked for many principals in
Singapore yeah and then after that Vietnam became a
processor and a now we become a supplier for Vietnam again from African countries
to be okay how do you Source RCL from African countries
are seen from African countries are seen from African countries it is having a big history a very long
history uh as I told you before 30 years we travel
I started to travel to Africa especially first we had been
to Tanzania and Mozambique yeah Tanzania and Mozambique
they were the big suppliers for India those days and these two governments
they decided to start processing in that their area itself so the Imports all
exports all cut down by government policies then after that before
30 years again it started during that time we have started to first go to
Mozambique then come to uh Tanzania then
slowly we have expanded to go to West African countries West African countries
uh those days West African countries we can go and pick and choose the qualities and
all because lot of quantity will be available without able to find the
buyers that time we have started to source work for the sellers and buyers
intermediary then we have started our career uh is there any proven technology uh it
is connected during transaction no I would say it is a basically it’s a experience about a
quality yeah I have got a I have learned the technique of seeing the inspecting
the quality and all I have done the inspections for at least about 15 years
by myself from
one one coil on importer yeah well on exporter
is a very great man one Mr Hamza okay he was he was my
Guru in this thing how to inspect the quality how to
see the gradings everything by I’ve got a training from him
then till today I am able to give if you are giving a showing any cashews I can give
exact result what will be the yield what will be the grades we will be getting
to certain extent I am able to explain everything by my experience
what is the buyer’s view or preference with respect to the quality not teal and
the moisture this thing you see basically we have developed our buyers
if you are telling this is a quality this uh this is Southern this is a
quality this price we are able to get meals half of the people they will be telling
okay if you are happy with the quality you can ship it out half of the people they will be coming
with us inspect the cargo at the origin and they will be taking this this landed
weight landed quality system all come very recently yeah because those days no sellers prepared
to sell at a landed wheatlander quality these are the latest stage they introduced
only the quality problem all started to come only after this basis landed weight
landed quality basis started then now the problem is severe
when we did shifted quality shipped away the buyers will be having a lot of lot
of efforts to check the quality there itself otherwise they will they will depend
very reliable very uh
trustworthy people only to select the cashews
what are you wccm last four years I am seeing I’m
very happy because you see this is the interactions yeah these are interactions uh we are having our own the cashew
export promotion Council of India also they are also doing that but in order in
addition to that WCC is uh taking the strain to bring all
the origin people and all the real processors and Traders and
interviews everybody’s to one one platform say it’s a good job
we are very happy with this thank you for watching thank you
welcome to the wall casual convention 2019 I’m rajeshwari from cashew info today with the web Mr vital raw
Secretary of kcma Welcome to the WCC hello okay uh can you brief about the weather
conditions in a Mangalore for the 2019 the estimated crop size well this year
the weather was very favoring and we had a very good rainfall this year and this will sum up to a wood crop and
additionally uh the new new Plantation that is taking place in Karnataka will
okay we’ll add on to this uh prop and we are expecting a very good uh year this year very good crop size this year okay
in 2018 uh do you think we need the global
exchange forum for this well uh now the global uh RCN volume like the and we
produce are I think uh the crop sizes are more than three million uh metric ton globally and going we had been in a
worst situation this year considering all this the the global
forum for casual is made of the art and the objectives and the constitution
of this forum has to be well thought of and even the place where it has to be located has to be well discussed and it
is a need of the hour we need to do that so you are the Secretary of kseme yes so can you list some of the activities
undertaken but guess yeah it’s been like three years now we are actually involved
uh involved in like a growing the plantations
from past three years we are Distributing sap saplings Karnataka okay
uh we have we have distributed around 10 lakh saplings as of date we have been
tied up with hectology of dharmasthala okay fine and uh vijayalakshmi Foundation based in uh he is also a
member of kcma he is uh in his uh so we we uh has has a Association we are
bearing 50 of the cost of the total sampling distribution and uh hold the
for next decade we are expecting the crop size to grow by at least one lakh metric ton okay
so we are expecting Indian crop to grow in your future yeah
follow along with the saplings will you puts like fertilizers pesticides
all that has been taken care by the foundation and the heritage is uh dharmasala rural development uh scheme
so we are right now we are only funding the 50 of the our members are funding
funding that and rest everything has been taken care by uh yeah okay so over the West Africa season
could be started expectation West African season is already been already
have started um we’re expecting the first shipment to begin somewhere in beginning of February
from Ghana followed by other countries yeah and when it comes to
praise it will depend upon the kernel Market as well as leftover stocks
the old crops which are lying there or like lying in mango yeah yeah any idea
about it I don’t know like what but like it looks pretty comfortable till March okay your
views about old cashew conventions so fantastic Forum yeah yeah we every I
this is my second year I’m coming here um it’s still one time in the year when we
meet all our like all the stakeholders of our industry yeah and it’s so nice
that we we actually unders we actually understand what’s happening in the African countries made from baby procure
and what’s happening in uh the market where we sell so it’s really really nice keep up the
work good job
welcome to World cashew convention I am venkat from casioinfo.com with me is Mr
William product manager nepc what is Nigeria’s plan to tap the untapped
potential of exploring cashew kernel exports Nigeria happens to be one of the leading
producer of cashew nuts okay presently we do a lot of I should not export to
Vietnam and India and however because of the price volatility in the
international market we are looking at processing the government of Nigeria is looking at processing of cashew not in
Nigeria so that we could create jobs we could add value to the product as well
as also to export and get foreign exchange okay so Nigeria has a very good plan in fact actually it’s reflected
what we call the zero area plan the zero eye plan uh is a government a policy to
move away from crude oil hot spots to exports of non-uh non-traditional
products so cashew happens to be one of them and we are prepared we’re just doing a lot to do that to this
broadcasture Canada right now okay so is there any plan to incentivize camera
exports in line with codiva yes there are a lot of incentives we have okay
um if you look at our Banner which is at the back my back you will see a lot of investment uh you know a kind of
incentives okay we have what we call the sport expansion Grant which we give to it’s like a credit to exporters of
of cashew canals okay you know to enable them to compete in international market we have a sport Development Fund we have
we have what to call um a One-Stop shop for investors so assuming you’re an investor you come to
Nigeria you go to Nigeria investment promotion commission where in one place you sit they’ll give you every assistant
you need to do business in Nigeria I don’t know to go from one office to another so we have cortical One-Stop
shop and again you have to afford to call the visa on arrival you don’t need to start getting yourself to Visa no
okay just 24 hours or 48 hours before you arrive Nigeria go to go to the website of Nigerian Liberation Services
apply for visa and arrival and you supply your information on a driver you get your visa you know so that’s an
incentive we’re looking at and again of course there are other things remember we don’t there’s no export of um no Duty
okay Duty on export no idea does not charge Duty export Duty on on canals yes
it’s all around notes you can you can charge with the bottom as part of know which an investment for people going to
process so all the Nigerian cashier industry is open to foreign direct Investments or partnership between local
and foreign companies that is a PPP model yes and it’s agree business Market
that’s actually what is High School in Nigeria most of the investment uh in processing or any industry in Nigeria is
private sector yes government is only to try to create the conducive environment for the business to thrive okay
government does not do business in Nigeria of export and anything to know everything we do is to encourage the
private sector so be the private sector the latitude the opportunity this to get
the market you know so we we certified like we said through the export through
the export incentives we have them through the sourcing of markets you know and that’s what we’re actually planning
this year to able to help people who are going to process now those were in processed already to look for market for
kernels for casual man and no so we that is on our plan right now and that kind
of thing like I said the government role is to improve the business environment for private operators what is the
current uh processing capacity of Nigeria yes the the the the first capacity is increasing uh in fact this
year we’re looking at about maybe 30 to 40 000 metric tons per hour okay
yes major major uh major players in the industry are in Nigeria Olam is one of
the largest uh processor in Nigeria okay we have Valencia it’s also major uh
processor for example ten thousand metric tons okay we have cash food you know we have uh food Pro we have a lot
of them in fact as I’m talking to you that many countries also now trying to set up processing okay so by end of 2021
we are looking at 40 percent of Nigerian cash rule to be processed in Nigeria she
was exporting our CN still there are some bottlenecks like infrastructure problem the average implementation
countries last year it was around 65 days or so power is going to resolve
that one because for waiting time for entering a Deport itself it is taking a lot of time so a lot of time is waster
how are you going to address those issues okay I think currently there are
a lot of infrastructure going on around the port right now okay the road construction access road to report is
going on yes the government also truly is a business ease of doing business okay other departments to operate 24
hours okay so the Opera the report has no it’s good to say we well we we close no so 24 hours they’ll be walking and
like I said the access road once it’s true the port the the I mean trucks can
go into the port and you know then of course computerization of the operation of the port is also going on right now
okay you know some things that some some processing that done manually and now operationalize through through um
through electronic uh you know process procedures okay so you can also
practically what you call a single window so you can be at the office and process your document online so when you
get to the port you just hand your thing and collect your product I mean all your goods and leave so those are kind of
things that we are looking at right now thank you so your reviews on Belt Casio
convention what needs to be done more needs to be done in the coming years I think I want to congratulate the
organizers of the country convention program uh since for the past five years
uh they’ve been doing very well okay every year keeps improving group improving and luckily we have been part
of all the process from Dubai to Singapore Singapore to you know uh yeah
come here so it’s have been proven and I want to comment the organizers for the you know the the Zeal and determination
to get it going I think even this year a lot of improvements have been done so um next year I think what could be done
you know the the issue of bringing the buyers and sellers together is key that’s what we call B2B meeting it’s
very key the issue of processing how do we assist the the origin those in the
ATO origin casual origin to also improve in processing it’s also key the issue of bringing
um technical assistance from you know various sources you know to the table to
assist the producing countries also to process like I said in my address to the
audience as a partnership there’s a partnership we talk in this in this process it’s not question of no the
partnership is that oh if I’m not doing well the other person is not going to do well okay so that’s why it’s important
that the partnership works just like in the house husband and walk to work together okay this is my wife I don’t
know if wife does not do a role there’ll be problem at home if your husband does not do his role there’ll be a problem at
home so there’s good for partnership he’s saying it’s a win-win for everybody so it’s important that we collaborate be
able to achieve the objective of stabilizing the market for cashew nuts okay thanks for sharing your reviews
thank you very much thank you so much
credit
uh auto credit is a social lender and we provide the investment where we think we
could have a positive impact on the farmers of our community and gender and
also uh fight against child labor yeah we regarding cashew we are already
invested with seven Partners mainly located in West Africa in both depth and
equity and this allows us to reach more than 7 000 Farmers oh and more than one
thousand employees which one of 80 percent of them are mainly women oh
that’s good what are the criteria for becoming a partner with the okay credit of local credits yeah is uh mainly for
us to have Goods governments yeah positive and packed and good
relationship with the small orders and the families by supporting them thanks
to maybe capacity building technical assistance good training yeah
um that’s mainly that and also to have a positive impact on the environment okay are you providing any financial
assistance for the cashew performers yes yeah we also provide and develop
capacity building programs yeah in order to support them to access the level of
maturity that we need for them to be able to receive our funding performance
before financing for the farmers yes how to utilize the credit
the the can you say it again are you providing any trainings for the farmers
trainings yeah yes through capacity building yeah yeah how many days finding
it is it depends there is a lot of different type of trainings depending the weakness
that we identify together with the farmers so we can organize a supporting
accountancy okay good governance sensitivision campaign for uh egn egn or
good Agri practice it could be very defensified topics yeah is any
collateral is needed for financing yes yeah of course as we are talking about
loans and Investments yeah it’s not to mentioned so we request for collateral will be depending the type of loan of
course could be personal guarantee mortgage yeah equipment guarantee
collateral management so meaning that the the stock of the products will be used as collateral okay
um it could be also assignment of sales contract receivable from good reputation
and buyers yes okay fine okay then uh is there any
insurance linkage program because of the climatic change sometimes it will be fluctuate not yet but this is something
we are thinking about uh especially when it’s about inputs and the crop renovation because
in this case climate change is very important and we must mitigate the risk
of small production and small productivity because of climate impacts okay so so we are looking to the type of
to understand what type of programs have been implemented by the insurance company and how we can use that to
mitigate our risk is there any surprise a special facilities provided to especially for women who take up the
casual business it facilities Financial quality facilities will not be specifically for
women okay but depending the evolution we in where we
want to be involved yeah we will try to identify the entry point where we think
we can have uh the more support to women for example regarding the value chain
for cashew we when you look at the revolution you will see that at the
level of producers or Traders there is mainly men involved and not woman
because usually women are not the owner of the plantation yeah they are only support to for the harvesting period but
when you look at the processors you will see that almost at least 80 percent of the staff are
women okay so this is why we focus mainly on providing funding to processor
or brothers and Traders because we think that that is this way we can have empowerment more impact and empowerment
of women news about WCC it’s a very good conference it’s a first time for me to
come to join it’s very interesting because we can see the evolution of the
cashew markets we can all see look at the Outlook and trend for the the future
of the cashew Market to meet the main key players yeah and also to see the
evolution regarding woman yeah social involvement because each time we have
each year we have this conference about women in Cashew and it’s really helped for us to to support the cashew value
chain and to to understand where we can be of encourage other governments yeah get your business absolutely okay thank
you for attending thank you welcome
welcome to the old cashew convention and exhibition 2019 I am rajeshwari from casual info.com today we have Miss chin
and Plum CC FNA welcome to the WCC map nice to meet you okay brief about ccfna
and his activities okay uh CCC FMA
is belonged to the ministry of Commerce of China and we are the largest
Association in China up to now we have over 7 000 Enterprises
we just like the bridge between the Chinese government and the Enterprises
we always promote the Chinese agricultural products promotion to the
outside and also import and some Commodities from abroad and we just
service to our Enterprises and our government yeah so that is we are work
is very important okay what is the uh ccfna involvement in the
uh empowerment of uban yeah yeah um see ccfma and we have a 80y employers
and among these there is a 39 um and uh for the managers or the high
level manager and total is 27. among them there are 11 are the humans okay
yeah so um as the president yeah up to now it’s
a woman now and three a vice chairman president so
um the highest position in 7A is Uma and so is women play an important role in CF
and his work okay what are the facilities provided for the women especially for the women by the
yeah in a China Chamber of Commerce the woman
and most of them have the high educations and they have a have a good abilities
they take part in the political activities so they enter to the social
society and have their way to the main street and
also in their work they take an important role and because all of them I
think that they are trying my best to try their best to do the work I think
they are more even work harder than that as you know that there is not only to do
the work but they come back to home they have many housework to do and they have
child they also have they also is the mother so they have a do their best and
to try more and the best than the man he can get the same level
and the second I think that in China it’s not like before some people think
that the women were very strong and up to now that at the present people very
appreciated the woman is a gentle kind and have a good mother and have a good
wife yeah and they understanding between them okay and the answer when they come
to the company and they can get very pretty war in their home they come
is also a very good wife and mothers so
I think that many of them have a very
successful office now the people are more conscious about the health okay over the consumption of
cashew in China in China casual industry there is many
of the woman um and the prices many of the women they
have a to be the manager yeah the general
manager even they own their own factories and they do the many work and
they earn money and also they import casual from abroad and sell them to
domestic market so I think that um many
women in this life and they have a very important role yeah
that’s I think in the future they have a the same level
with the man what is the role of CEC FNA in a cashew sector for the Casual sector
we have the Casual sector is
also to serve the um and the prices and just like
um to make the policies as the Casual most of the Casual is
import from a board so we find which is the problem and during the international
trade we also report to the government to result it yeah and just like the
Indians have a high duties for the other poor countries because they have a rich
and they couldn’t enjoy the favorable tax so we think that it’s not good for
the India and the Chinese trade we sent to the government and give advice to
them to reduce the tax um for the Indians so China can import
India to import more yeah and casual and also if we
own the policies of China have some activities we would try the um our
Enterprises to take part in just like last year China hold the China
intern importer Expo 7A make an important role in this all of
the agriculture um experience is held by our
Chamber of Commerce and also I said we you could find casual Enterprises to
take part in that yeah um you will find women there
and a lady as you know that man come there lady told me that and now you do
you find do
so I think um the woman had a take part in all of
the activities of this mind your views about WCC all cashew convention ah
casual your casual convention I think I played the important to go in this line too and I have attended your conference
two times and we also cooperation because we also
had a China international and China’s yeah you also advertise your conference
at our um convention I think we could a
cooperation in the future I hope to to cooperation you okay fine for forever
thanks
thank you
welcome to the old cashew convention and exhibition 2019 I’m rajeshwari from cashew info today with me is
greatest welcome to the wccma thank you so much bring forward your company Natty
greatest so um was founded in 2009 as an extension of a
family business my family’s actually been in the business of dry fruits since 1887. and I’m a fifth generation
entrepreneur and you know ever since my childhood I knew that I have to take this business a step forward do some
value addition forward integration and create an impact in this industry so uh drb Foods was founded in 2009 and Natty
gritties was launched centered around equality and Innovation so we do have uh
you know from the basics like plain cashew nuts almonds pistachios walnuts to value-added products uh familiar
flavors like pepper and barbecue and Thai chili and salt to even a limited edition range that keeps changing with
the changing taste buds and changing Trends yeah so currently we’re doing products and flavors like saffron cashew
nuts Wasabi cashew nuts barbecue Blends and this is something that keeps changing every quarter yeah that’s nice
we’re also supplying uh this product across retail modern trade and
we Supply in the railways sector we are in e-commerce and we’re covering almost
10 cities in India with thousand plus channels okay points of sale is there any chance of exporting your products to
other countries other than India right now we’re focused on the Indian market but uh maybe sometime in the future
future plan okay how you maintain a record the traceability of the products so from um the raw material that enters
our Factory uh we maintain dot numbers and we even get all the records from our
suppliers um from entering the factory till the time it goes to the market it has its
lot numbers we maintain sample batches of every single lot of finished good that goes into the market till the time
it gets expired so it goes to constant testing yeah so we follow all uh you
know hasip and ISO 22000 and fssai standards to make sure that the quality of product is maintained identity yeah
Okay then if the growth of e-commerce in India platform and what the percentage of your product in the e-commerce
uh so e-commerce started about uh six seven years back and it was a very very small part of the business especially
food and grocery as people are not really used to buying food and grocery online even right now uh apparel as well
as electronics are what sell most but over the years uh you know given to
convenience the convenience factor in the Metro City especially because people are busy working
um you know it’s like dual income families where both both partners are working children are going to school
they want good products they want convenience at their doorstep yeah exactly so that’s why e-commerce has
really picked up in the Metro cities and in uh tier two and tier three cities uh people actually get access to products
that are not available easily in their retail Market yeah so uh right now actually e-commerce is almost 20 to 25
percent of our business driven by platforms like Amazon Flipkart big basket snap deal as well as our own
e-commerce platform nuttygritties.com okay how do you advertise your products
um we do a lot of digital advertisation so um we just like social media uh
Instagram Facebook we do a lot of that we um most most of our advertising is
digital as well as in-store um so one big way in which we promote our products is through sampling you
know this is the value added product it’s something new and if a consumer tastes the product that’s one way that
they’re gonna buy it we also do a lot of b2c exhibitions oh of course okay how do
you Source the kernels uh we do Source it locally from India only not from other Origins no we don’t
any idea of uh importing the kernels or the or all of this thing so that hasn’t
really been a major part of our business and you know we have good sourcing Partners here in India yeah but uh
that’s why actually this is my first time here at the convention and it’s really great to meet um a lot of people from across the value
chain and understand about how the market works so uh you know let’s see
maybe sometime in the future right now it’s not part of the plan the part of the plan is right now to really uh grow
this industry uh driving it through value Edition products through Trail mixes yeah
okay across retail and e-commerce okay okay your views are WCC this is the
first time alternate yeah it’s the first time that I’m attending uh WCC and it’s been a great experience so far it’s
really great to meet people from across across the world from uh you know the origin from uh buyers to traders to
processors manufacturers and understand their views about the industry so you know if you want to grow in any industry
you need to understand the roots and what better way to understand the roots than to interact directly with the
stallworths of the industry and learn from their experiences so it’s it’s been a great experience so far I look forward
to the rest of the day and tomorrow as well and understand even uh you know what the government feels what the local
people feel about it okay uh you’re giving any facilities for
the women’s who are working in your nitty-gritties is there any special facilities especially for women’s yes
absolutely you know almost 50 of our Workforce is women and um the the labor that works is almost
like 90 women oh and uh drb Foods is only driven by women so it’s driven by
uh me my mother as well as my sister looking at different aspects of the business so uh we we do give a lot of
flexibility uh to women and uh their ways of working and we encourage more
and more women to come out there and work and in fact uh you know I would like to really urge other families in
the business to encourage the women in the families to step out there and um to
be in the Forefront of the businesses as there’s a lot of scope especially for women’s yes especially for women and and
um I’m really happy to see a lot of women from Africa and from Asian countries out there and I really hope to
see more Indian women out there as well so this is um one of our best sellers actually this
is a pepper cashew nuts it’s a familiar flavor people love this flavor um we have a limited edition range so
this one is a Wasabi cashew nuts okay so this is actually a limited edition range and we keep developing new flavors
constantly we have our R D team and food technologists working on these flavors depending on what’s trending in the food
market yeah so currently uh Wasabi is one of our trendiest flavors new flavor yes this is a range we actually
developed for a cinema so for PDR Cinemas and this is a blend
of nuts and of course it’s got to have cashew nuts and we have like macadamias pistachios almonds uh in this as well
and it’s made with a Himalayan pink salt so uh you know given the health conscious consumer today we have to use
ingredients like Himalayan pink salt uh and these are single cells the whole
purpose of this range is to feed the health conscious and uh people who want
on the go healthy snacking okay thank you man thank you
welcome to the old casual convention 2019 I’m rajeshwari from Cache info today with me we are Miss Lucia at
suction of the economic analysis from in kaju welcome to the WCC map thank you
how is the ongoing Susan in a Mozambique and what is expected for 2019
good morning yeah thank you very much for you for this honor it’s a great honor for us to attend the world catcher
convention 2019. and the Casual Season Market uh is expected to be Market
is expected to the market 140 000 metric stocks until 20th of January
we have been sold the 131 000 Metatron which correspond to 80 86
compliance and the farm gate price of right is about one one dollars per kilo
and we opened the exported trade at 11 January yeah so
it’s very early to talk about uh export of raw cashew nuts yeah but uh
the crop production is is the is is is good and the provision are very good we
increase the quality this year because we have invested in good agricultural practices promoting post
harvesting procedures and even so
train the The Producers about all the good at good culture practice to improve
the quality oh whatever
in Mozambique the current area of cultivation is about the current cultivation is about 80 000 actors okay
and we have approximately uh 40 million cashew three okay what are the steps
taken to increase the yield the ill production uh cashew in Cashew
is defined many key intervention areas okay uh we have invested on Research
okay and on production of cash new cashew siblings until 2020 we are
estimated to produce and distribute about 50 million new cashew seedlings
okay and we are expecting as well to process 2
000 tons matter of tons okay and this is our goal to leverage our
industry so just to give an example the industry capacity Rose from 54 000 uh in
2017 and actually our capacity is the other 100
000 of capacity we have we in Mozambique we have 60 unities processing companies
and they’re employing about 70 000 workers in which 10 are represented by
women’s okay fine yeah okay any of the products here uh developed from the
cashew apple yes we started last year with the project call it
um processing of cash derivatives okay and the native products because we see
the importance of value addition okay by doing that uh we uh we we increase the
income for Farmers we create job Employments and we have we boost the
rural development for instance with cashew apple you we we train the pro the
producers and the processors yeah uh to prepare apple juice Jam
many many many the beef of cashew oh that’s so they have many varieties that
we are we are introducing when when we are working to leverage casual value chain performance okay is there any
benefits given for especially for women foreign
who Supply in domestic markets so we have to Target the this this group yeah
to train them yeah yeah prioritize good agriculture process practice processing
procedures and even though linking the women’s with the service the products to
Consumers is exactly and we also teach them about how to elaborate a business
plan okay and the market market strategy and now they are supplying the the
kernels for the upper markets for restaurants and for five star hotels
any financial assistance is given to them we we are working on that in new
regulation we have a fund of guarantee yeah which will we will also Target the
small scale process we are talking about inclusive financing okay okay what about
news about old cashier convention uh the my my procession is is a very
good I’m I’m humble and honorable to attend this conference yeah because we
had the opportunity to build the networking yeah and know about the market frame the global market trains
yeah because last year we have a clash in the in the price yeah the Casual price so it was very important to be to
attend this conference to have an idea about the market and Market Market
Market market trends in 2019. oh okay thank you for attending
the business thank you
cashew
thank you okay uh brief about the Comcast show activities taken in the
Africa countries okay yeah so Comcast she works along the entire value value
chain that’s from production through processing to supply chain linkages and
a sector organization so what we do mainly is to train Farmers processes of
cashew as well in a policy makers on very important or Salient value chain
yeah topics yeah and what do I mean by that that’s improved planting material production yeah how to engage with
stakeholders to formulate better policies for the sector yeah and also we work extensively with gender yeah so
then we include a lot of women in our trainings yeah and then most of our interventions are also
um crafted in a way that there are more women involved in what we do so yeah
generally this is what we’re doing can you explain about the master training program that conducted by Comcast show
yeah so we have a training program that we call the master training program and
that’s um a program that brings together sector access that’s Farmers from farmer
who are creatives processes and people who are working with peeling sorting
cashew Factory managers and all that and then people from the Ministries so we train them on Quality Management on
production on improving production and managing cashew Plantation and then also
on then when it comes to engaging stakeholders when it comes to financial proposal writing all these things are
done during the master training program and we started this training program about four years ago okay currently
we’ve trained over 316 people actually about 400 participants 400 graduates
asset now and they are from over 16 countries in Africa of course yes and 33
percent of these people are women yeah people that we’ve trained are women okay and these are people who go through
their training and are promoted at their workplaces after that they’re able to start their own factories they are able
to start their own business ventures so yeah that’s for the master training program is generally about now just to
add to that this year we are organizing three editions of the master training program that means nine sessions and
that’s starting in March yeah and then it ends somewhere in November 2019 and
we are expecting over 300 participants okay are they providing any financial assistance for the woman to take up the
cashew business okay so what we do is we have something we call the matching fund
okay and through this machine fund we’re partner with institutions organizations are already in the cashew sector
to train women to train other sector artists and then there are some also
pre-finance production and this is something that we do through the matching fund we don’t give out cash
generally okay but then we give technical expertise and then we liaise with Partners who are ready to also
Finance their activities so this is generally something that we do so apart
from capacity building we also create platforms for networking between women
and also to bring them together with stakeholders okay are you providing any
Market uh facilities for them for the what they grow and you’ll be helping in
for them for upliftment of their products okay so yes what we do when it comes to the market is that we link them
to buyers of the raw cashewers yeah and also of candles yeah so that’s what our supply chain linkages does so that when
they produce the customers over the process they have a ready market for it so that when they produce they don’t
have stock that is not sold and it doesn’t go bad so this is how we help them in terms of the markets being a
communication manager so what is your role please explain about you know those things okay so as a Communications
advisor what I do is um generally about communicating for the
project that we do reports writing we engage with the media yeah we do social
Media communication as well and some of the things that we do includes writing
and success stories and fact sheets information material on the project we
also organize and meetings and then dialogues with partners okay and
generally this is what we do as a communication student so we make sure the project is visible we make sure we
provide our partners with their relevance information that they need and then we also make sure that internally
everybody is well informed of what you do as a project and then they feed into
the common goal that we work on as a project so generally that’s it okay
thank you thank you for attending the business
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from cashier info.com
with me is Dr r.k bodesh chairman sepsi India
thank you thank you narrate the initiatives taken by sepsi
during 2018. okay in pursuit of increase in Cashew export from India in the
coming years all right see basically the Cassius Council of
India is the agency to uh to promote the exporter cashier
dollars for me so when you’re saying the to promote the cashew export seller means so it is
basically uh engage in promoting the cashew industry because without a promoting the cashier industry you’re
gonna just promote cashew yes expert assets so basically cash proportion council is looking after the welfare of
the cashew Industries as a whole now the last year actually basically there was
the there was a lot of I mean the cash industry was really undergoing a crisis so if we say crisis I should say that it
is a challenge it’s not a crisis basically because it’s a character year I should say yes yes there’s a lot of
issues because there was no parity of cash to the Rock issue prices and there
was a lot of unhealthy competition in the market and because of which a lot of cashew processes they’re financially
they’re facing financial crisis okay now only thing is that this is the right time that the market is stable and now
cash promotion counts is trying to just rewarm the cashew industry especially that in India and that’s in the support
sector so in the smaller sector because the smaller SMA sector msnb sector
there’s the one which is just gathering this industry okay almost 90 percent or even 95 percent of the cash industry
comes under msnb sector now we are just approached the government foreign
out of around 200 to D they’re declared NPS for that bankrupts okay and they’re
facing a lot of I mean courtesy actions by the bank and the government okay so CPC has had discussions with the banks
the government and other agencies just to see the how much we can just because I may save this industry okay and that
uh now we are just submitted a remover packet to the government of India as well okay so the renewable package the
it is it consists of recommendations to five major Ministries okay number one is
commission Ministry second comes uh finance ministry okay then we have
yamasami Ministry the agriculture Ministry and the labor Ministry okay so these are the five Ministries is
congenital though the cashiers of promotion also comes on the uh the
Commerce Ministry and which takes care of more than 80 percent of the cashew business okay but the support of other
Ministries are most important for the welfare of this interest so for the uh
finance ministry what you are requested we have to restructure the law okay so earlier the government has given this
type of support to the textile industry and also to the uh I mean leather
industry when they had they had a crisis okay so the first thing about to do is just the the the erodor working capital
okay that is where you scheduled into a working capital so we are requesting the government to
support the industry just to uh by giving one day support to pay off the
interest okay of the NBA airports so once that that uh that uh interest is
paid by the government also we have given another model that 50 should be available by the government and the 50
should be aware of by the so 50 will be supported by the government at fifty percent available by
the Banks okay so once the interest process written off then the liability will
reduce to principal of March okay this has to be a retail or a period of seven years okay that’s the number one
now only thing is that when it is Institute again you have to restart the work then only will be able to pay back
they need working capital okay that means we should have additional money almost equivalent to working capital the
bank is also ready to support in that as much but the issue is that they have to probably we have to provide a collateral
security okay now unfortunately most of the processes whatever they had with
them yes it’s already given to bank and they have taken money with the best so they don’t have additional politics so
again we approach the Amazon Ministry this is
collateral guaranteed trust for small and medium Enterprises okay so with this
collateral to the bank so the right is that you know for a new industry the maximum limit is 24. no no
no do interest is too close Okay okay and uh the existing industry one row okay and uh subject to 50 percentage of
the total scholateral okay for example I had to provide a collateral if I cross the path
then that doesn’t mean that they will give 2.5 crores okay but if my collateral is only two crores they give
maximum up to one crore is four crores they give maximum two
no so now again what happens this is all a running industry but when is a Revival package or revamping attempt so all
facilities given for a new unit has to be extended to this cashier which is
okay so that’s a point we have just put forward and uh once uh uh the government
once the government is supporting uh with this cgtsm scheme then maximum up
to two crores can be entered so again we are approach the we are discussed with the band that for example my total uh I
mean M1 comes in a five cross okay so it can be just a collateral
management it can be used they call it a touch management so that at any point of time my total liability outstanding open
liability will be subject to the maximum supported by the cgt assembly okay so it
will be understood controlled by the bear because this is the Revival stage we can
ask the bank to just give free of Free of security laws okay so that is the
package we are just emphasized and I am happy that we have also submitted some
working models okay I’m happy that the bankers have accepted the availability of the model okay and we are trying to
do something with it and we are hopeful that the government of India will be recently the Commerce Ministry has asked
us to submit the final draft to be forwarded to the finance ministry this is a final touch which we have done okay
so and we are hopeful that something will come out okay that’s it so you are working for the Vedra of the complete or
see an import Duty okay whether this will happen in the coming Union budget
so we are able to convince the government that unless this is not
permit if it is not permitted then we have to import cache kernel from other competitive country yes to meet our
domestic concept so better we import Rock issue process it here so that at least we can we are providing you can
generate jobs that for every one kilo of cashew kernel
you buy you’re providing half a day working half working day to you
okay number one is area expansion okay number two sorry number one is
pre-harvest management okay number two is area expansion and number three is three planets of senile and the old
trees see now the government is having a lot of schemes for really expensive okay so
what we have requested the government just to have some sort of support for a pre-harvest management so the
research studies say that if you’re just watering the cashew tree basically during the season or prepared
to season you can get a yield excess of 20 percentage okay though if that means
if you’re just able to properly probate manuring and watering the trees
so you can get better yet okay so this has to be a fascist so that that is a
quick solution over one year you’ll be able to just generate 10 or 15 percentage it may take
on a two years results
in 2017 the total area was 10 lakh sectors that is 10 less minutes a
hundred thousand I mean 100 000 hectares now so we have requested
is the area expansion of 25 percentage over a period of three years that is 2.5
000 characters
they are just sanctions and area expansion support for the area expense of half of it over a period of one year
okay so there’s a support that the government is giving for the foreign
exchange yes yes so that means the more you produce in India that means to that extent you are able to reduce your
exercise to reduce the foreign
what could be the parity price of Indian kernel what according to you no that’s a
very tricky question because you know basically I told you that you know because even in trash normally you talk
about the out end yes not even counts not even boys nothing like that but the
coward is just an indicative thing yes I should say it is one of the one of the
quality parameters so I am of the opinion that you know this should be changed to some quality index okay for
example I can buy cashew with the 48.010 where 40 support of good quality and
four pound of I mean semi was a supporter or whatever it is so you met when you calculate you get it
48 pounds okay at the same day you can supply my cashew which is 40 pounds good
quality and a 15 pound or 18 pound uh let’s say sorry 16 pounds are spotted
and uh I mean bad quality once or semi when you take half of it you see again
comes to 40 H but what happens when you just process it the yield from the first one will be much better compared to the
field of the second yes yes so the I mean say that outline is not a is I don’t say it is not a factor but it’s
only one of the questions so we have to reduce it to a standard what is called the
quality index okay we should take care of the out end the moisture then the nut
couch the and then so many other aspects okay and as of the origin depending on
the origin can vary also so once you have a quality index
then I’ll be able to answer your question okay okay very precisely okay but I think that uh with the today’s
maybe that a Marketplace of around 3.8 to four that’s I think uh the rakeshi
for example uh let us say uh the the coming one is West Africa yes I would of course we should be in a
person to get it around a thousand one hundred thousand two hundred dollars okay so then on the priority exits see if it
is thousand two hundred means then the parity is okay okay
if it is more than that one will still actually beneficial so one thing is that you know one development over the person
crisis is that okay the process is they are very they are just to determine
that they will because we have got around there we are processing around 17 lakhs that is 1.7 million cashew of
which fifty percent sources now domestic we are able to control our
Paces okay because on the parity prices only people who buy yes okay what then
regarding said with the domestic will be able to maybe we will be able to supply the domestic Market okay and the water
comes in both so that’s the boundary which we want to just employ okay so what happens if that
if there’s no parity on import basis if there’s no Level Playing to play
level Field playing field to play we’d rather sit in the gallery and watch the game yes we don’t want to just play and
foreignty as soon as quantity how are you going to reserve
they say I’m going forward no in I think in the last session also I
had just I was just a detailed you about that UCP that is going to and hopefully
we are just going to introduce during the Kaiju India this time this time okay this is going to be the first question maybe that it has to undergo a lot of
changes okay because it is for the industry to justify and tune it okay okay so first step we are going to yes
yes
is basically that you know because that this international trade is mostly between individual organizations yes and
it doesn’t come under any infrastructure or a or institutional framework there’s no much government control in this trade
yes so there should be some control by the government agency including CPC I
mean say and the government agency who is responsible for the cashier expert okay she has support from the Casual
processing countries discussion
so if something of that can come soon I think then the trade will be more structured yes so as of now this is not
properly stock change yes and some dispute comes some somebody doesn’t uh I mean uh make achievement after receiving
and you cannot there’s no place where you can just take it even if you go for arbitration yes now one more thing is
then we are also trying to introduce some sort of arbitration into our UCP okay okay I think uh once that’s our
humble or honest beginning to establish some sort of structuring in the architecture trade okay I think uh maybe
with the support of all of this one thing I can assure is the water we are going to introduce whatever will be introducing that will be fully
transparent and fully neutral okay okay so then only such a thing will be accepted by the the endless stakeholders
okay it should be accepted to the indices table list that’s all okay all right thank you so much you’re welcome
thank you
welcome to the old cashew convention at exhibition 2019. I am rajeshwani from
casual info today with me we are Mr Charlie from mayor group welcome to the WC system yeah nice to meet you brief
about color sorting machines are like k k and KF yeah because we are focused on color
sorter uh more than 25 years for casual business we start with the belt machine
LD before and now we updated all the time year by year a new list is called
the K series mkf and km actually this three series is based on the situations
of cash resulting and also by technology difference so uh
the Casio risk is integrated type it’s easy for installation in every countries and on-site movement so everything will
be better you know for KF we have the full size cameras okay especially for
casual Arts yeah the shape difference like this uh so km also we update these
machines for the curl and the shell separating so for casual oil basically sorting we have fully serious machines
to casual business brief about the X-ray
it’s a machine resolves infection lives in the cash
yeah actually x-ray machine is focused on food security yeah it develops these
years exactly but Extreme machine for investations actually is not yeah the
extra machine is focused on foreign materials classes Stones Metals plastic like this
which is different foreign materials comparison with the foods so for your
points uh vegetations actually we are under researching the laser machine to
do this yeah okay so I hope maybe after several years this machine will go to
the public uh okay yes is there any customization of the for the machine if
you transport from one country to another yeah because we are thinking it’s not by countries it’s by field this
casual field they have many many common points even the factory processors are
different countries yeah we are focused on the business sorting on casualness yeah we are developed according to our
own technology and also very important according to the customer request yes so
till now our machine develops the speed can satisfy the the customer requests
yeah in how many controls information has been explored uh for Carlos solar itself you know mayor is the biggest
thing as sure and we manufacture over 10 000 machines per year we already
exported to more than 100 countries but for casual Arts it’s uh in West Africa
Côte d’Ivoire yeah Tanzania Mozambique Nigeria local and India and Vietnam
still any more other countries for customers you know because the cash
allows focused on three areas in the world so we are focused on these three Fields but anyhow moreover is uh if the
cash business developing in some single countries we will be there all the cashew sorting machine is different from
other commodity machineries yeah yes it’s it’s totally your
difference yeah that’s the basically theory is the same it’s Optical sorting
yeah what’s the difference is the casulas we are researching on the difference of the schedulers the shape
yeah it’s just like a moon yeah and inside the detection is so difficult yeah and also the oil is of the cashew
so we developed machines according to this Specialist of this casualties so
this is different and we are doing the different design for this your views about WCC 2019 it’s a spatial conference
yeah it’s focused focusing conference yeah so all of the the guys here yeah a
Specialists yeah yeah we can have many common points yeah we can have more than
many many common topics to discuss deeply briefly everything
platform okay thank you for your interview
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention at the exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from cashier info.com
with me is Mr frosho Lancelot Commodities and Mr ishwar Century
exports limited and Mr Mohammad ekram from Century exports limited so how is
the weather so far in the major cashew regions of Nigeria and what is the estimated crop size
uh weather has been very okay um Amazon was not too harsh okay because
in a harsh environment with harmattan the flowering is the stop rains have been
whether Journal is fine we expect a good crop we expect
that Nigeria should be having close to 270 000 okay for this uh 2019. okay
see what happened in 2018 see everyone suffered in one way or other way create
a processor or trainer what needs to be done to avoid those things in 2019 do
you feel the need for a global cashew Forum to consider this thing what are
the objectives of that Forum what needs to be done considering what happened in 2018 uh any idea on that but
uh for 2018 Nigeria was not an exception to the problems
to Nigeria is the fact that the buyers particularly the
foreign buyers at the beginning were exceptionally aggressive they there was a destruction of the
value chain a lot of people went into the field so much funding even when the crop was
not out so that pushed the prices to unprecedented levels even beyond what
was sustainable going by International prices so and then it’s also resulted in
poor handling because in an attempt to quickly sell and dispose people were not treating the cashew
properly then all of this added to the international crash in prices so I guess
that this year 2019 there will be sanity there will be less aggressiveness and I do hope also that the buyers will
stay at their different points in the value chain so that there is less distortion
so in addition to that there has been lot of speculation okay people speculated in anticipation that there is
only not where the prices can go and no software okay and unethical and
non-traditional people enter the market new people who doesn’t know cashier
enter the market and they all thought cashew is like you know buy and sell
straight away without even processing okay and that has also spoiled the image of Nigerian governments in addition to
that every year there’s a Nigeria crop is bad if the quality is bad but not
that case because two three years back the Cure is around
46 47 now it is improved what I’m telling at the end of the day
exception for last year 2018. before that you would see any crap would be
picked up and sold high quality for Nigeria get low prices and low quality get at a very high
prices it’s a whose mistake that’s a major thing the people mainly
some of the Indians okay in particular and now Vietnam is also have joined they have
started going into the field look into their local markets and distracting the
entire value people who doesn’t even have the capacity to get
they will go and fund him for 200 300 tons and that guy takes money from two three people and end of the day they
will blame that all Nigerian has cheated near the cause of it we should stop that look we should stay at the Port City and
buy from the local Traders then it will be have a very very
sanity because we can control the quality yes you will be answerable to only one supplier because then if you
reject the quality from the local supplier they will go back to the village and train them
they have observed in 2017-18 if some thousand shipments are aired from
Nigeria means only 10 percent is having more moisture content but in 2018-19
some almost the shipment is doubled maybe some two thousand shipments are there but moisture infected content is
the most static person from third person it has moved to 30 percent there is
another reason for that it’s only in one area I’m talking about the 24 report in Tamil Nadu where I am creation agencies
it is General it is
other ports even in Vietnam okay last year we all had a major setback on the
logistics yeah exactly the containers State or the poor okay at the origin
from the place of Warehouse until it goes on board it even took some
containers up to three months okay and well dried cashews had no problem
nothing even after landing at six sixth month at destination and some people
cleared after eight months from the day we loaded they had no problem but the initial crop you know the at the
beginning there is a lot of Rush asking for February shipment 10th of March
shipment when the pressure goes they all load slightly wet cargo assuming that
the cargo reaches in two months okay the moisture will be fine whereas this year we had a setback on the logistics that
took almost four to five months okay obviously you don’t get the product yes obviously the moisture will deteriorate
whatever is inside the pot it also you know further develops yes and affects the crop
and one more thing normally other than last year normally in the beginning of
the season if the RCM is around 1500 per ton but during the off season there is
an increment of 300 to 400 per turn what is the reason behind that one see when
the crop comes in the first three months there is no deviation in prices if it starts 11500 means at first it
will be a thousand six hundred but during the off season there is an increment of 300 to 400 rupees per time
what is the reason behind that one at the time there is no incremental in kernel prices
that’s what I’m telling again it’s happening not only in Nigeria across the African countries so that’s what I told
you in a simple way yes the buyers are destination you pay low price for high
quality okay and end of the day the high quality gets less realization whereas they pay a
very high price for low quality this has been a curse for many years and no one
has an answer for that you haven’t well I
I would not understand why that is because um uh I think that has to do
more with uh the buyers because what we sell is a function of what prices that we are offering okay so I think the
buyers would have to give explanation after that it’s not something one reason that
could be at the peak of the Season even the kernel buyers they don’t pay the right price they also
try to push the price low okay so that they can expect that the main season
there is no any escalation in the prices are too high like what we faced in 2018 okay but whereas as the season ends up
they also know what is the crop size of across the West Africa India that also determines the pricing of Kernel okay
that reflects on the runners so it’s a function it’s not like just
the seller or Runner buyer or processor it’s a consumer end of the day the
kernel buyers all has to be a value addition to the chain okay then
only this industry can survive or we must have a board where there is a price
fixation so it becomes like cocoa board okay okay where the prices are open to
everybody and everybody know what is across the industry and there will be a sanity
then the fitness will survive I actually think that you know at the beginning of the season the crop size is not easily
you can’t ascertain very easily so as the season progresses they begin to understand what will be
the size is for the different Origins okay then the buyers now have a feeling that maybe the crop size is not as
projected and then there is this Rush on the apart now to quickly pick up whatever they can and I think that is
what takes up the price at that time in Africa almost nine or ten countries has
come under the umbrella of cashew consultative council is there any rationalization of taxes across the
origins intro Africa trade for example if someone is having a factory in Nigeria as well as in IBC they don’t not
need to pay tax on that government is there any infrared trade is possibly within the West African countries and
rationalization of taxes for across the African nation is there any uniform it
was there it was there under the ecowas treaty okay but it’s no more uh that’s
why your paper has joined in the intro African as you can see consultative Council almost almost all the African
cashew producing countries are joined in that one or they go into forms that kind
of thing going forward uh the thing is most African governments
now okay are putting more emphasis on the revenue generation through taxes
okay okay in the previous uh in the times past the
Revenue generation was the drive was not this aggressive okay but right now the
government realizes that the main area of Revenue generation has to be through taxes so the tax is not just about
cashew or export okay across board taxis have been emphasized in Africa
so that is one of the reasons why this is happening and I don’t see that there
are stoppings on topic okay do you see the need for a global cashew
Council cashew Forum kind of anything and what would be the objectives of that forum
do you support that one see to be honest unless there is a
a kind of a willingness to have a sort of a cooperation
and in this industry there is no cooperation you can be it the suppliers
be it the Traders read the exporters there is no everybody want to back
scratch another one so without a Common Board to sell fixing
the pricing I think common World Forum may not be of too good
it may not add any value it may not be even if you look at it from last year to this year
the attendance here would prove that there is a lot of people who have not come who was there last year has not
attended it’s again you know if there is no profit why should I go yes
there is no basis so what is a farm okay I think first thing we should have a
cashew both okay at least for fixing the pricing so that there is no even the
International Market at least there should be a standardization of see give a low and higher yes
you can start with the basic things yeah what would be the payment terms of green
organizations a lot of defaults are happening there should be a commitment on all the exporter has to commit for
the quality delivery and performance similarly there should be a understanding from the buyers the buyers
cannot range on their contracts yes just simply if the see under let us ask one
thing in 2018 if the prices have shot up against a contract would the buyers be
rejecting no will they be not sitting at the exporter’s head fine there are a lot of exporters who
default also is I’m not saying no about it but at the same time even the good ones are getting affected in the process
because there is no discipline in the system so the contract which has to be
committed and it should be legalized then yes the industry will be very
healthy even today you know see can anyone say the pricing what cashew
is getting is the right price so that’s why you want to know if for a
thousand five hundred dollars here what could be the parity of Kernel price for
w320 is there any parity if anyone can live we don’t know because we are not
processing what is the right price that’s it see we don’t know okay because basically
that formula it differs from Factory to factory okay parent or terrain what is
happening in the coil on Market will not be the same in Bangalore or panruti it’s
the same thing in Vietnam yes right and everybody say yeah our cost is so much
but nobody loses no factories loses no factories wind up for sake of loss
unless they mismanage okay unless there is some other reason why he could not run the factory
so that’s why I’m telling if there is a range given publicly then it becomes individual okay
then there will be some sort of a you know control in the market okay thank you so
much for sharing your views on that
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention and exhibition Abu Dhabi I am venkat from cashier info.com
India Foods exports and Mr Arjun Satish Nair welcome both of you sir thank you
yes so brief about your India food exports and distinguish your brand daily
nuts and delis yeah interpret exports was set up in 1985.
okay and actually our family has been in the business of uh cashews since the
Inception of cashews actually my grandfather was one of the founders of the cash industry in India okay and I’m
the third generation now I have the fourth generation my son what we do is we mainly cater to uh
buyers who are very uh picking on their quality and we are able to give a product that
is a model is tailor made to their specifications that’s what we try and
achieve and we do feel there’s an excellent market for that okay and it’s one of the
ways that we can compete right now in various parts of the world okay in 1995 we started this brand okay
uh you know because catches we’ve been we’ve been eating cash for a very long time my family and we found I found that
you know roasted cashews without oil also tasted extremely good
and I thought why not take this further and try and develop a product which has flavors and also dry roasted because
they can you don’t use any oil so it’s more healthy okay so develop this brand and over the years we’ve been able to
grow it and uh it’s an excellent acceptance
and then we have the delhi’s brand look which uh which again because there is a
percentage of people who like to have oil boosted cashews okay so we thought we should build that Gap also and uh we
developed we have this product release which we use oil was it cashews okay so
which are your major export markets and what kernel buyers expect from you on
product quality and the food safety standards yeah a major Market is the Middle East and
the Far East okay it’s here that you know most of the buyers are quite and also we have some markets in Europe some
buyers are very very picky on quality not very high quality standards yes so we are PRC certified and it’s coming to
a stage that you have to have some kind of certification okay only then you have an interest from the high quality buyers
Okay so we’ve taken that and we have ensured that we have all certifications required to make their needs it’s a
brief about your host technology how it roast cashews without oils and other
preservatives it’s a proprietary technology okay
seen the flavors onto the onto our valuable products to its fullest okay and many applied
this kind of technique but we haven’t successful in the second time okay and what is the size of branded
cashew segment in India and as well as the primary to have a segment in India and what is his future growth prospects
what is the size of branded Casio segment in India branded as well as
private to have a segment in India and its future growth prospects I think it’s maybe between 10 to 15 is probably the
brand is size right now okay and what we see is that more and more of these uh
big supermarkets for example Lulu they are building their own Brands okay so
we’re going to find many of these big supermarkets coming in with their own Brands yes and that’s going to grow I
think it’s going to grow and there is very good score for them and what is the role of e-commerce
platform how people are attracted to that one I think that’s again the future because
e-commerce is something that’s growing rapidly okay and in today’s uh scenario unless you are also in e-commerce and
doing it successfully I don’t think you can be successful so you have to concentrate on both e-commerce and brick and mortar that’s the way you have to
have a combination of both do you have any plan to foray into value-added products like cashew paste or cashew
milk in line with almond milk definitely we are thinking of these lines also okay
and uh we hope that we can become a product that is because cashew powder
and cashew paste or no famous they are mixing with curries and other food ingredients
so we do have uh we are looking at that products also definitely so what about
the reviews on world cashew convention and what needs to be done to improve the
things I think it’s an excellent Forum where we can meet our uh Donuts mainly I think we have a lot of Runa supplies
coming to this okay and it’s an excellent Forum I think to meet them to understand and their problems and they
can understand our problems okay and uh the next one for me for us to exchange ideas yes
thank you so much for exchanging all your ideas all your views thank you thank you so much thank you thank you so
much
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention Abu Dhabi I am venkat
from cashier info.com with me is Mr Jesse Reddy Bing Corporation dmcc
welcome Mr redisa
act hygiene in Cashew processing units of Paramount important what kind of
flooring is best suited in Cashew processing factories so if you talk specifically on the
flooring yes so what you said is perfect it’s a Paramount importance yes that’s where the motors most of the foreign
materials are generally known if you get generated so so if you look into that for last 10
years from the manual to Mechanical process so a cnsl oil is one of the
major issue that will affect the floor finish and floor appearance and gum formation
so if you look into the latest developments and a lot of Trials people has done in intestine so industrial
tiling is one of the best solution you can go for that even you’ll get in at 10 mm 12 mm and 15 mm thicknesses and they
can withstand even heavy loads like you know 30 35 minute tons of Air Attack movements also okay similarly a granite
flooring also one of the the best solution okay look into that so always go for a such a flooring where the your
kernels and other things easily are visible and you can clean it because usually you can pick it up so so these
are the two and always instead of jointing any tiles jointing any stone so
better always maintain 4mm difference between the tiles and go for epoxy filling okay okay so see despite
mechanization the microbiological contamination is very high okay how to
reduce that one
happens due to hygiene issues okay okay particularly because there are so many
workers are handling these kernels in different you know different process yes so if just the first important thing for
any mechanization is controlling the workforce entry and exit okay so when they enter a hotel shoot that hand wash
is a compulsory and leg wash is a compulsory you can use some kind of disinfectants to wash I know without any
order in the Indonesia and similarly most of the kernel should not stay in a
same location for a very long time 24 hours the kernel movement has to happen from one location to other location okay
mostly World stocks which is lying in any corner of the premises this is one of the biggest attractors okay
infestation issues and microbes is very another important thing looking where personal hygiene of
the workforce is going to help you a lot so okay if you maintain that so how to reduce the noise pollution in cutting
and scooping session and also the dust pollution yeah if you look into that on shelling
levels okay earlier olden days most of the machines were going on the stroke basis so there is a hard stroke no just
heartstroke you see first first generation was much into the vertical machines yes then you’d gone to horizontal measure the noise has come
down okay and from that third phase now absolutely there is a clutch based rotation the the rakash unit is going to
rotate in a small clutch and path so again the noise has come down so to minimize the Noise two important things
are that your structure should be very strong okay the base structure where the machines and everything goes so you
cannot go for a very very delicated and very nice soft structures go for a little bit red structures okay and
ensure that your structures are properly grouted okay properly grouted to the ground that did not have any internal
vibrations these two things you do it and third most important thing is sound may come from the odd bearing so when
when parts are ready to ensure that your eyelid you grease it little bit regularly not getting hard hits it has
to go back okay okay and in the piercing section now the
improve how to improve the efficiency in peeling section and how to reduce the timings also see
if you look into them very specifically and appealing it is bit of a complexity compared to your Shilling okay the
Shilling now the mechanization wise look into that it was a decent development today we can say that almost 80 percent
is mechanized initially yes okay and it is giving slowly very good results a lot of improvements happen in last three
four years okay like a back that has come down uncut has come down self-scope improved a lot now so there’s a lot of
developers if you look into the appealing side it’s extremely a different you know concept already okay like for example a country like India
where Jesus generation is not a laser constraint because they are able to sell it the proper price so there the
appealing concept is a little bit different in Africa where they are not allowed to create more pieces
but feelings is the one such area it’s not outcome of any problem in that particular day okay it’s carryover if
you for example is unright Nets are there that is also gives a Praying problem no at the end similarly
overdrive without yes that is also gives one more different problem or like a different core generation of pieces so
it is actually speaking feeling is a combination of no the buying of rock astronaut trying it properly okay and
most important feeling is severely impacts origin of the um
you’re buying from one specific origin you have a very good building two different specific it’s a different
feeling issues it depends on you need to adjust that exactly the best way to attack the peeling is if you have any
problem in the specific availability go for a little bit long time of duration of the no board one okay so there’s only
one way and at the time when you are going for a very long duration of your Burma heating you have to ensure that
not with high temperature
from thereafter the humidification is not that is a critical thing yes if you over humidified it there’s a feeling
problem because the skin got stick more into that yes and it’s absolutely if
your your humidification is very uh less then you have more pieces generation so
that is absolutely by experience and you have to get no that balancing of humidification and board one these are
the two major compositions how to deal with the post clearing
things because a lot of brokens and pieces are coming how to deal with that one
see that means that uh an uh Post building activities yes yes so post
billing activities if you look into that uh there the real National level of
mechanization really eating happening there okay so ensure that your your color sword is always directly
synchronized or with your healers this is the first thing you have to do that and similarly the holes and the pieces
there may be three or four major grade separation so that you can do instantly and always you better separate uh
unpeeled and feel and know in that stages let’s not stack it into too much into a grades and make a big loss there
okay so this primary sorting of a holes or pieces host pilling has to do
instantly and within within one hour of the time okay then then thereafter the
management of no different grades becomes easier so how to clean the floor using
chemicals without being contaminated yes which type of chemicals we can use
see that’s the reason it’s the chemicals what you want to use for specific floor
depends on what floor you have okay you have a cement floor for example you have a tile floor or you have a granite kind
of stone fruit based on the structure of the flooring your chemical reactivity also changes
okay so that’s very very important thing but in fundamental if you look into that is almost a food safety based you know
disinfectors are available very much in the market you can use that number one number two
better avoid any chemical which is having a smell or smell like some people
are using the floor nature of the floor we need to use they can use the proper chemical and there shouldn’t be any
smell in a lot of people you have seen observe that no they are using sop director no washing powder
okay so what happening is the cleaning activities you may not read as much but
so any chemicals having a order any soap solution having water if you close the
floors the cashew May attract that and you may feel little bit different you know in the the taste test is a very
very tricky and the chemicals what you are going to select better there are a lot of organized sectors who are doing a
very good floor cleaning solutions for the food safety industry huge available yes okay thank you thank you so much
how is the weather in Mangalore and what is estimated crop size for the 2019.
uh this year the weather conditions were very good for cashew uh the rains did
stop uh in early September yeah and after that there was not much of a rain so because of which the flowering was uh
early the conditions during the flowering tour was very good and I have discussed with the various agencies like
the directorate of cashew development and cocoa development also and all of them have reported that we probably are
looking at a very big size of cashew crop production in India this year so as
of now we anticipated a very early crop probably in the second or third week of January that is not really happening but
certainly uh we are looking at a big crop coming in from second week of February okay uh casual industry as a
wall was in turmoil 2018. so what is the reason behind that and what are the expectations of 2019 thank you
well you see the crisis was in the making right uh up in the year 2018. uh
we have seen the Automation and mechanization that has come into this
cashew processing in the last five or six years now it did shape up well and
driven by I think mostly Vietnam the processing capacity of the manufacturers
went up substantially so this kept pushing the pressure on Raw seed pricing
and we saw the prices of raw cashew nuts going up uh for the last four to five
years in succession so from probably around 800 or 900 dollars that we saw
from for a West African origin seven years six years seven years back we saw an all-time high of 2 300 last year yeah
now in this process of price increase that happened for the raw cash or not there was also a massive expansion of
area under cashew cultivation that happened in most of the producing Origins West Africa East Africa and also
to a great extent in India so all the is led to even the crop growing in big size
uh I think we are today last year 2018 we did see the crop size of about uh
3.3 or 3.4 million tons which is a all-time high so high prices of seeds
and an all-time high uh crop production
uh was a tremendous pressure and we do not know the exact reasons what happened
but you know we saw liquidity Crisis coming up in Vietnam in the middle of the West African season
and there was probably some issues whereas financing is concerned from the bank to the manufacturers whatever that
led to absence of buying from the major Origins so this led to a steep crash uh in the
2018 we saw the prices crashing down from two thousand three hundred dollars to almost 2 400 500 which is probably
about 30 to 35 percent crash in the prices this is the highest price crash
that I have ever seen in my exposure to the cashier industry so obviously when
you see a commodity crashing to 30 35 in a single season yeah
it’s impacted every every you know the value chain of the cashew processing
it’s impacted every single person um be it the sellers of cashews or the buyers or the manufacturers or whatever
so we’ve seen like major uh crisis what are the changes taken away in the cashew
market after the introduction of GST foreign GST has been a major reform as far as
India is concerned yeah this has been talked about for quite a few years but I think we finally saw it coming though a
little hurriedly uh probably the preparation for the GST was not uh really as far as most of the Traders and
the industry was concerned they weren’t really prepared for it but it was always
welcome yeah and ever since the GST the taxation has definitely become much more
uh simpler though there are misconceptions about GST with many I personally think that
the GST has made life simple for at least manufacturers like us and overall
when we had several structures of slabs of taxes that was you know impacting a consumer it was done away with and we
finally ended up with one or two slabs of Taxation only so I think also tendon
the consumer on a long term is in for a major gain in terms of GST and we as an
industry welcome it wholeheartedly uh there is a lot of difference between the ship the quality or in quantity of
RCN then to land advance so are we water us about this one well uh contractual terms there are two
types that we know one is the shift quality shift weight and the other one is a landed quality landed weight many
now have preferred landed quality landed weight uh simply because uh
the time that the seed spends in a container in a closed container if the seeds are not well dried it will
deteriorate in quality and that would result in a much lower yield than the promise to the contracted ones at the
point of uh shipment so I think the dryness factor is something
that the industry is very worried as far as seeds are concerned I must say that
75 percent of the issues as far as seed procurement is concerned rests in drying
of nuts so if the nuts are well dried then certainly industry will not see any
problem and the trade would get much easier I think the value loss on account
of not proper drying is also huge this needs to be estimated and we must ensure
the proper drying happens before any cargo is stuffed into the containers now
one of the major issues that we see is non-availability of a mechanism to
verify the dryness of this cashews which means machines yes moisture meters which
are available in the Market at this point of time are not very reliable and that’s the reason why the the moisture
levels have not yet got into the contractual perception because we are not in a position to verify the veracity
of the moisture that the shipper promises to deliver so I think it’s very important for all
of us to focus on developing a very good moisture meter once that is available which is acceptable to the entire value
chain yeah I think then we can start buying on the basis of moisture levels
of the nuts which would be a far better way to ensure that the farmer is
incentivized for drying this nuts so I give top most priority for drying off
nuts and top most priority for developing a very good moisture meter which is there in Vogue already in
Africa in Vietnam everywhere but still it’s not yet popularized it needs to be innovated we need to look at better
technology in evolving this moisture meters I think we need to pay top attention to that okay your views about
WCC 2019 WCC is a great Forum that we all of us
come year after year and enjoy it there’s been Innovation that’s happening with WCC year after year uh and I think
this year too uh it’s been a wonderful uh the sessions have gone on very well we enjoyed Abu Dhabi and WCC 2019 and we
wish you all the best for your next year’s venture too
welcome to the fifth edition of world cashew convention Abu Dhabi
welcome once again sir thank you my first question to Mr Siva how is the
weather so far in the major casual regions in Ivory Coast not too bad we had some late rains okay
but now it has stopped which is good for the crop so yeah not not too bad that
means you are anticipating more hours higher than the last year crop or what could be the estimated crop size I would
say about the same thing between six and seven hundred thousand tons okay yeah that’s what we do okay
so will there be any change in export tax of RCN last year in the mid of the
season they have reduced from 89 will there be any change in the new
season going forward you know the decision making process is unfortunately
very slow okay and so far we don’t know what will happen this year
last year they were the government was really Keen to promote local transformation okay so
they made a lot of last minute decisions okay uh we’re still waiting to see what happens this year okay yeah so what are
the challenges faced by I say asean exporter in 2018 you know the industry
was not in a good shape in 2018. I want to share your experience of 2018 as an
asean exporter and what needs to be done to overcome in 2019 what needs to be
addressed okay actually we export kernels okay so I’m more familiar with the local
business okay and the market has proven in 2018 to be very very unstable looking
with Colonel prices dropping every week yes uh to the extent
that some of our customers have decided to stop buying okay and wait until the
market stabilizes okay so last year was a very difficult
some of the things I think your initiative is a good one already okay because it gives
opportunity to hold the supply chain to gather together and discuss okay but yes
maybe it will be a good idea to have an international casual body okay that will help stabilize the market look I’m under
the impression that uh people in this value chain uh get confused
and sometimes you know you remember before last year the problem was the
high cost of RCN okay and 2018 the problem was the low price
of cabinets yes you see that’s exactly exactly the opposite so I guess as a
profession Transformers needs to sit down and decide how to go about uh
pricing that’s very important for the future of this business yes
so which are your major kernel markers export markets of Kernel us okay Europe okay okay
what is your current processing capacity pricing what do you mean what is your
current Pro asean processing capacity processing okay yes oh we process five thousand tons of RCN okay which we are
planning to increase to 7 500 this year 7500 this year okay okay
that means you are going to increase by another 50 percent it is in 2019. yeah okay however Cote d’Ivoire produces 700
000 tons of RCN okay and transforms locally maybe five percent okay so there
is a lot of room for uh Improvement and Improvement on that see normally RCN price was more or less stable during
April May but from June to September the price has moved by 200 to 300 for 10.
what is the reason because when the First Quality curve comes the price was
more or stable it was around 1500 1600 means it is within that range but once
the crop is over then from June to August it is only shipping and other things only that time
the price has moved up by almost 200 to 300 percent what is the reason because
at the time if we consider the terminal market is more a stable if you see the kernel markets around 3.6 or seven
there is no major change in kernel Market it will be somewhere around 3.8 or so but why there is such a huge
variation in asean price okay if you remember in 2016 2017 okay uh Vietnam
was importing RCN up to two thousand three hundred dollars per ton and last
year in two or three steps they brought this price down to 1700 yes even 1600. so
many people uh on the ground run into trouble okay because they’re both uh RCN we’re
hoping they would sell at the same price on the year than the year before so last year it was an exceptional one I’m
talking about the previous last three years if you observed the general tendency last year from Top levels it
has crashed but in general normally the prices will be stable during that May
April to May period but from June to August September the price is right here
on the higher side irrespective there is no change in kernel price why it is
happening so what is the reason you mean the kernel price RCN price you know after the first crop
which is good quality okay that’s when really Vietnam started reducing its
buying price okay and many many people in Cote d’Ivoire lost a lot of money
based on that because they’re both based on the previous year’s price selling price okay okay and they didn’t
anticipate the tax which was introduced okay so many many people made a lot of
lost a lot of money last year okay so therefore they stopped buying or they
accept to buy only at a very low price okay see what could be the current price if asean is say for example is around
1500 per ton yeah what would be the equivalent kernel price for w320 if you
want to have a break even kind of a thing uh I would say
five between 550 per ton about 550 per pound sorry 550 per pound per pound but
now the market is nowhere closer to that one so we’re losing how you are going to have that we’re losing money that’s
right that’s what it means how it is going to be is reserved because if the industry wants to move forward something
needs to be addressed okay so it’s basically uh apart from the production in India okay
I think in the rest of the world it’s a recent business okay and it has developed very fast okay and my guess is
it will take two three years before the market as the prices stabilizes okay
okay because we’re all new in this business okay uh for me that’s the main issue before
RCN was transformed mainly in India only today it’s Vietnam okay very big yes and
even in Africa we are starting so you know supply and demand and all that and people are also Under Pressure
okay to generate cash to service the debt okay that doesn’t help
so people sometimes are ready to sell at any price just to have the cash required to service
debt for me that’s the other problem your reviews on wccce well I came last
year for the first time okay and I learned so much about cashew that I’ve
decided now that you know I’ll come one of two days to have a chance to talk to other players and understand where the market
is going the question you’re asking because my guess is nobody knows as far as I’m concerned we’re covering RCN
we’re covering kernels okay uh shipment okay it’s all covered here in this
convention okay uh so now for me it’s very good thanks a lot thank you very much

welcome to the fifth edition of world cashier convention and exhibition Abu

Global and ideal limited Nigeria thank you once again sir it’s nice to be
here yes thank you so brief about your company startling
Global and ideal limited yeah which are the Commodities you are into Stalin club
and ideal limited is a commodity exporting company from Nigeria we are the major Pro exporter of cocoa and
cashew in Nigeria right now they’re classifying into sesame seeds and sunflower seeds too
all origin Nigeria the rest of the world okay how do you Source or CN from
Nigeria from Cooperative Societies or directly from Farmers we
selling operation is divided into zones in every Zone that is producing any of
the commodity that we export we have sonar offices we managed by our sonar Representatives
at the same time we have host of customers that are supplying us from the
origin we are these Commodities are being produced by farmers okay
so how is the weather so far in the Nigerian cashew growing regions and when
the crop is expert because and what could be the estimated crop size in 2019
Nigerians where has been very favorable we have very hot Hamilton season in the
last year between the Amazon season period the rain was favorable to during the rainy
season so the expectation is that we are having bumper Harvest this year and the crop has started coming out gradually
since middle of January okay and like the National Cancer Association of
Nigeria normally do we keep our flag off until after this convention okay and we
hope that by the time we get to Nigeria a month end we should be having a flag up maybe in the next one or two weeks
next one not two weeks okay what could be the indicative price of RCN for 48
lbs on table that has been like very tall order this year because of what happened last year okay and
and people are being courteous about what the price will be okay most people are just waiting from these convention
maybe we can get something of indicated from here but generally people are
looking at maybe a thousand dollars or a thousand five something in between okay
yeah well
we are just looking at well okay the the usual of last year is still palpating
okay people are very very conscious about going into the market now putting money in and but the farmers are ready
the crops are coming out okay and definitely it must be sold and at the same time I hope that we will get our
hearts together and have it better than last year okay okay is there any world here cold crop is
still remaining still unsold crop of asean in Nigeria well as per starting we
exported all our crops last year we don’t have any crops outstanding in our warehouse okay and for others I might
not be able to say but for styling we don’t have any old crop no maybe something may be there in other
Origins other regions possibly in our own case we don’t have
any not even being off okay a lot of last problem
which are your major export markets you say which are your major
Asian export markets uh major exports Market yes okay
foreign companies to buy from us and we are
getting offers now from Middle East okay yeah do you have any plan to process or
processing of kernels going forward definitely okay just like my MD said at
the session earlier this morning okay the solution to the problem of origin is
that we should be processing too and as we are processing
we just believe that there is Need for us to add value okay we believe that in nearest Future will be the origin to
will be processing bulk of this cashew nuts okay so we believe that our
government should put process and actions together to be able to make it easier for the cashew
industry to be able to process their not coming from the origin okay
farmers are not getting good price when compared with other Origins yeah what happened during is there any
Improvement on that front uh still that is relevant
or if before the crash in price okay the farmers were
getting value for their money okay and it is obvious even from the report that is being given today we know that
Nigerian casual of better quality now people try their cashew okay the problem we still have is the incursion of the
foreigners into the farm gate that make the farmers to be in a house to sell their crop okay and by the time they
come they come with price that is not within there and everybody wants to sell at the higher price there by making the
them not to be able to drive their cars quality but with the measures that is
being put in place now we believe that we should be getting good quality and
With Better Price everybody will be happy at the end of the day okay and the
other issue that we’re having with moving Consignment out of legal Sports
okay though we still have some issues but Starling as a company will devise a
way to move a container from a warehouse okay to an area where we have
arrangement with some of our shippers where we use the waterways to convey our container from the to escape from the
road blockchain look at the traffic so we are now using badges to Move It from a Depot to the main Port
Lincoln Island pot and we are we hope to devise that in as we use it perfectly
well and it works for the cash for the cocoa exports last season okay you have
to deploy the same medium for sure because Nigeria is the transit time it
is somewhat on the higher side when compared with previous years actually the transistor in the previous season we
got an assurance from the shipping line that they were okay cashew from origin to destination in
maximum 40 days unfortunately unfortunately the religion
yeah promises one way or the other and this year we are discussing with some of
the shippers that are ready to do it right okay and the problem of the road congestion to the port is what we are
getting round weight with the bike services so that we can move some of these crops via
the waterways you have some roasted cashing here for you okay at least for 10 for palatability test of Nigerian
cashew okay and we do have some promotional items that we give to our customers as they come to visit the
stand here okay they have our first cup I think you can have one okay and the
t-shirt is this and I hope you get some for your colleagues too later oh definitely all right thank you very much
for coming yes thank you so much
welcome to the fifth world cashier convention I am venkat from cashier info.com
Ministry of Agriculture Zambia welcome sir thank you very much my first cousin
to Mr mazabe what is the current promotional activities undertaken by Ministry of
Agriculture in Zambia Zambia in Zambia actually cashew is a
relatively a new crop it was introduced in 1980s
but the industry collapsed in 1990s so there was nothing taking place until
2016 when the government took a loan from the African Development Bank
we have a project called cashew infrastructure development projects
which is situated in province of the project is undertaken in 10
districts the where Akashi was practicing before indeed the government of Zambia would
like to revive the whole crop okay and the aim is to cover about 60 000 farmers
and out of those 65 Pharmacy it will include about 20 to 30 percent they are women and what we have started the sofa
was actually to initiate a program of collection of the mother trees okay
which will be multiplied at the research station since the research station never existed
what we did was to recruit new stuff from the extension services send them to Tanzania to undertake a
tailor-made training indication by the chain and when they came back now we started working with them
it’s very interesting that they have captured the app very much and we have identified more than
273 mother trees which are going to be planted inside Orchard in three of the
farmers training centers and the one in the Casual Research Center
those materials they are going to be the source of materials for distribution to
Farmers we are also engaging the processes there were a few small scale
processes okay but most of them they were using traditional tools not a modern one but the project in Zambia the
cidp’s has set a about 1 million dollars to as a matching Grant to assist the
processes and also Farmers if they want to expand their Farms the original Target was uh to plant about 6 million
trees but with my input as a technical advisor I think we are going to do more
than what they were expecting because now they have got the right person to do the job because the technology is there
the knowledge is there and the Casual value chain specialist is there so there’s no room why Zambia cannot
prosper in terms of the cashew production what I wanted to tell you is that Zambia will probably be the the
West African countries the only good varieties because they have very few trees which are exist in there and and
only one percent of those three they are performing very well which means that Zambia will be starting with the new
varieties okay with the new crop which has the the best quality for processing
now we we have generated a system where that the cashew varieties are supposed
to to to adhere to the prevailing Technologies which are existing so
London materials will be having a sharing percentage not less than a four kilogram to one kilogram four kilograms
yes because at the selection level we are selecting materials that can produce three kilograms of raw customers to
produce one kilogram and a farmer’s field now it is going to produce four kilograms will produce one kilo as
opposed what is the existing now five kilograms to produce one kilogram okay okay what is the current area under
cashew in Zambia uh cashew is planted in scattered so you
can never mention that maybe we have certain hectares of land Farmers they are owning about the 20 to 33s and they
are also scattered but basically uh cashew can grow in more than 15
districts in Zambia but currently we’re operating on 10 districts in Zambia
uh what is interesting is there’s no proper record of the castle production
but beginning this year we have set a record that we can track the the
production because the majority of the processors are also part of the project so we are going to get the corrective
figures probably by the end of next month okay how is the ocean season in
Tanzania when the crop is going to hit the markets what is the estimated crop
size uh actually it’s an interesting scenario in the previous years by now would have
known how much has entered into the market but because of the the the issue
of the cartel in procurement of the cashew nuts the government decided to procure the customers and pay the
farmers but what the government is procuring now not all the cashews have reached the day the health of the
government some of them are still in the warehouses of the Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative Union or cooperative
societies so at the moment it’s difficult to know how much group is going to be realized but generally our
estimate was the crop was supposed to be about 250 or 270 Southern metric tons
but if it go to 300 I’m not I’ll not be surprised okay
how much of asean will be exported out of Tanzania and how much will be processed inside Tanzania you have any
idea on that one uh um truly the the the the processing capacity of Tanzania at the moment
uh is that I don’t think you will be able to process more than 50 000 metric tons most of the the existing one will
uh probably be exported and the government is in the process of now
allowing the private traders to come on by the problem which transpired was the
the issue of the middlemen and the government is not interested in the issue development and they also want the
farmers to benefit from their growth because cashew is grown in areas where
it is the only main source of cash crop very little comes from Sesame and where
it also come from groundnuts so the the two two provinces in Tanzania they are
entirely depending on the cashew nuts so do you feel the government policy
should be aligned with what’s happening in the markets yes the government is willing to consider the views of Market
players on price and the proposed policy changes they are going to take
of my knowledge they it is a mixed feeling let me tell you the truth that uh
Tanzania is exporting more than 100 000 labors
to Asia they were long exporting the the raw material like shells the cnsl the
the the baby Meats the testers all of that one we’re exporting so I’m very
very happy that the government to Tanzania an initiative first of all to
pay for the crop for the farmers to get their money instantly and the secondly for declaring that the government is now
on the course of ensuring that most of the crops will be processed in Tanzania
it has been my 20 years outcry that the government should be engaging a lot of money to the industry because if we only
invest in telling Farmers to produce which we have managed because we moved from 16 000 metric tons in mid-1990s to
almost 300 000 currently but the processing capacity has been decreasing
from 30 000 metric returns to close to 5000 metric tons which is not very proper we need to address the entire
value chain as a government so I can congratulate the government
fully for insisting that the majority of the crop should be processed in Tanzania of course not living along some of which
of course to be exported I would like also to to give you an additional
information we should not be worried about the Tanzanian Club not not rich in
Asia we about three years ago we embarked on a large-scale planting of
cashew okay we are planting at a rate of 10 million trees per year which means by this year we have about 30 million trees
in the system in another five years Tanzania might click into about a million thousand metric pack we cannot
depress all of it okay so don’t be worried at all about the government say we are going to process also in the
production side we have very good strategies of ensuring that we are going we are going to supply some of them to
the Asian interest departments on the other hand I would like also the cash info.com where you can be encourage
processors to come and process in Tanzania the environment is good there’s Land There is everything they can do and we
are not going to pay the 15 percent exporting which will be your instant profit again before starting processing and more importantly you are going to
get high quality material yes yes we all know that one Tanzania is always produce
high quality materials from your point of view they are going to produce at least a Million Intense in the coming
years I think processing is a right step a step in the right direction
so what is your reviews on wccce the way of the word WCC wow okay thank you very
much it first of all I would like to thank everyone because convention for for inviting me to this very important
meeting so that I can also put my technical input where there is a gap uh
but I also like to say that this is an area now where we can have a lot of discussions for the industry and see the
way thank you so much sir thank you very much
